Hilltop House

We received check in information such as code to access keys very early. Earlier check in time was accommodated. The house is more like a home from home rather than apartment. The king size bed was very comfortable and our two boys said their beds were comfortable. There was plenty of glasses, cups, plates and cooking equipment if you are looking to cook meals. We had plenty of towels left for us and property was nice and clean. We were here to renew our vows on the Saturday and was overjoyed to find an iron and ironing board as some clothes had become creased in transit. I had forgotten to pack tea bags so again was very happy to find some had been left for us. There is only one bathroom (with an amazing shower!) This is on the top floor but didn't cause issue for us. There is a TV in each bedroom which made our two sons happy as they were happy watching their programmes upstairs at the end of the day.

Not a dislike but due to regatta weekend, when we arrived at the property the cleaners had not yet been into the property so we arrived to find no toilet roll and beds had not been changed or made. This wasn't an issue as we were heading straight out so just brought our bags in and contacted the property to advise. I received a phone call a couple of hours lager to advise cleaners were on the way and there had been traffic issues and a problem at another property. When we arrived back to the property everything was clean and beds were made up. Property is up quite a steep hill. This was no problem for us but for anyone with mobility issues this could be tricky.

Nice house with two bedrooms and a lounge. Just one bathroom+toilet. Kitchen is good with gas hob, pots & pans, toaster, dish washer, washing machine. The location is close to city centre. About 10min walk.

The parking is a nightmare in this street and any adjacent streets. A microwave oven would be a nice addition.

Just back from a 1 night stay and it was perfect for us (2 adults + 2 kids). The host is really proactive with providing all check-in info such as key code and WiFi password and was also very reasonable in allowing us access from 1pm instead of the advertised 3pm. When we arrived I realised I hadn’t made a note of the key code or wifi password before I lost internet access (totally my own fault!) but host was super quick to respond and we were in the house within 10 minutes of arriving with the teenagers set up on their devices quickly! House is clean and tidy, beds are comfortable and kitchen has all usual facilities including iron, ironing board, coffee making facilities etc. It shows signs of usual wear and tear as you’d expect from a property busy with bookings but absolutely nothing I’d find real fault with. We’re just home now and the host has already messaged to let me know they’ve found AirPods that I’ve left behind, I hadn’t even had time to notice they’re missing but host has offered to very kindly post them out to me, I really am very grateful for this!

Nothing that the host is responsible for or can change - parking is a little challenging if your wanting a space right outside the property, as you’d expect in a small seaside town but if you drive around the roads nearby you will find an on street space, we did quite easily and just left the car parked a few roads away as the property is within walking distance to the waterfront. Whitby is very hilly so you might also struggle with the property if you have mobility issues but again this isn’t negative to the property, the whole town could be challenging.
