Sarlat La Caneda is a medieval town in southwest of the Dordogne department. Stepping into the medieval to discover being at the historic heart of Sarlat in the Middle Ages within a magnificent apartment which has been restored to its former glory and prestige a truly magical place. Hotel Particulier Fénelon was a 13th-century mansion belonging to the last descendant of François Salignac de la Mothe-Fénelon (17th century), tutor to the Duke of Burgundy and theologian. Veronique and Richard were the perfect hosts relentless passion to provide QCD (Quality Cost and Delivery) taking great care with 360 degree focus on customer satisfaction. On the cobbled streets of Sarlat de Caneda features the highest concentration of medieval, Renaissance, 17th century facades of any French town in Sarlat-la-Caneda with prosperity reflected the privileged status it was granted in return for loyalty to the French Crown during the 100 years’ war. Behind the nondescript rue de la République are narrow lanes, archways and ancient ochre-coloured stone town houses rich in ornamental detail. Protected by law since 1962, Sarlat-la-Caneda buildings form an outdoor museum with an exceptional number of buildings registered/classified of historic value. Famous for its markets which are held every Saturday in The Place de la Liberté with a full-scale fair that attracts many locals from all around the French countryside.

What is not to like - privileged to stay at the heart of this magical medieval town - 3 days of bliss!

We were left a variety of all breakfast requirements which were topped up two days later. The accommodation is excellent close to the Old Town.

Outstanding place, beautifully appointed, roomy. Host, Veronique delightful. She even baked for us! Easily, the best place we stayed on our one month exploration of France! N
