Home from home
Kitchen counters needed cleaning, and the home would benefit from new cushions on the sofa. The house being on a mini roundabout wasn't great, and forgot a previous review had mentioned this. Front of house would benefit from blinds or curtain nets so you don't feel so exposed, especially given public house is right opposite. Loved the size and the homely feel.

+ From the outset, I would like to say that the owners accepted my feedback and themselves expressed disappointment the issues we raised. I was assured no-one had ever raised any of my points before (though on looking through, one reviewer did mention the beds and several the cleanliness)
It was dealt with promptly and a compromise was reached, namely a gesture of goodwill was made and accepted. I told the owner that I would give an honest and fair review, the points below are the ones I immediately raised. I really hate having to be so honest with the review, as it's pretty damning. My reviews on here and Tripadvisor are often upvoted, as I am always fair. I've left a review here for three reasons; 1) to show the owners made recompense, 2) as two requests for a review were requested and not least, 3) to give other travellers an insight. Hopefully the attached photos represent my summary.
+ The property is close to amenities, shops, very close to Ashby centre and not too far from Scunthorpe town centre
- The beds were very uncomfortable, had to sleep on top of the other double duvet to try and stop the springs (of the thin mattress) digging in. This was brought to attention of the owners, who assured me this had never been raised before (not accurate). I find that incredulous, considering.
- I had to message just before arrival to ask for the key code.
- The front bedroom was noisy, it's a busy road (up until 11pm and from early morning, exc Sunday) As the owners stated, there "isn't anything they can do about the road" but I feel a mention in the description would be helpful. The access is awful, as it's on top of a busy mini roundabout. It was hard to get a break in the traffic to get on/off the drive. I've included a Google maps image (all details removed for security)
- The property was shabby in places (eg the downstairs toilet). It seems recently renovated and perhaps there is further work yet to be completed?
- The interior was pretty basic, bedrooms would have benefited from bins and a vanity mirror. Small things make a difference.
- The hand wash in the bathroom was empty, we went and bought our own the 2nd day.
- The shower took a long time to get to temperature, any addition of cold made it too cold and without, it was very hot.
- The cleanliness was substandard, I had to clean the sinks/drainer before use. Photos attached.
- There's a dangerous wall socket in the single room and the TV lead into an extension lead doesn't look ideal (even if it's safe, looks scruffy.
- The property description is inaccurate, it's neither "stunning", "exceptional", "comfortable". Those superlatives gave a very different expectation. The set up is very much towards contractors.
- Finallly, a small issue, which remained without reply, was the missing lounge lamp bulb. The spares we found weren't the same fitting.

Very spacious and a large drive for sound parking. Co-op just up the road. Great house and very comfortable.
