Wonderfully quiet and peaceful.

Location is good. Place is clean and well maintained. Host is very good.

Vrai chalet en rondins de bois. Chauffage électrique et à gaz. Equipement de cuisine complet. Lits confortables. Belle vue plongeante sur la campagne, chalet en hauteur à flanc de colline. Très calme. Animaux sauvages : antilopes, autruches sur la propriété.

WiFi éclectique à inexistant. Montée ultime glissante avec berline standard.

We really enjoyed the hut - beautifully done and attention to detail was very good. There seems to be an effort to take out some of the tree invaders (wattle and gum), and the roads are being repaired. It would be nice to have a walking trail map - we used to be able to do a very long traverse up and along the mountain, but sadly the reserve has been divided into pieces and there are very high and rather ugly fences climbing up the moutain. I am not sure what happened there over the last ten years or so, but much of the old reserve which was beautiful grassland has been turned into mielie and cow grazing fields. Some of the original wooden huts seems to have disappeared too and two very ugly brick huts have been thrown up near 'reception'. There are, however, lots of birds to watch and we were kindly provided with a bird list. There is quite a lot of game - sadly too many cross-bred species.

There was no 'reception area' as such and no-one came to greet us on arrival which seemed a bit odd. We did however find the cottage open and ready for us which was fine. The one door did not lock at all which wasn't great if one wanted to go for a walk and leave belongings behind. I think that the wattle and gum trees that are immediately visible from the cottage should be taken down.
