Locatie was moeilijk te vinden. Na verschillende telefoontjes met de poetsdame kwamen we uiteindelijk op de plaats van bestemming. We waren daar zelf al eerder gearriveerd (de navigatie gaf het nl. aan), maar we dachten dat dit het appartement absoluut niet kon zijn en dat het een woonhuis was, omringd door kassen, troep en oud ijzer. Helaas bleek toch dat we hier moesten zijn. We konden onszelf binnenlaten, de sleutel zat op de deur. Het (eenvoudige) appartement was schoon.

Werkelijk alles viel tegen. Het beloofde uitzicht vanaf de berg op zee is er, als je over de roestige kassen heen kunt kijken en je ogen sluit voor de enorme berg schroot die overal ligt. Het appartement heeft een terras dat je deelt met de buren. Er is geen enkele privacy en het appartement is gehorig. Deze accommodatie kan absoluut niet verhuurd worden als vakantiebestemming. Bij het boeken weet je dat je kiest voor een wat afgelegen (rustige) locatie, maar niemand wil na een lange reis in een gribus aankomen. Wij hebben binnen 15 minuten na aankomst besloten om direct op zoek te gaan naar een ander verblijf. Daar konden we de volgende dag terecht, dus we hebben 1 nacht in Ca' Nostra verbleven. We hebben geprobeerd om, via de poetsdame, in contact te komen met de verhuurder van het appartement maar die was op geen enkele manier bereid om ons te woord te staan, laat staan om even langs te komen.

Della struttura ho apprezzato la disponibilità telefonica dei proprietari, l’ampiezza degli interni, la funzionalità di cucina e la camera da letto.

È stato assolutamente ingannevole scrivere che la casa si trova a 2,6 km dal mare – forse intendevano con un elicottero, perché in macchina la distanza reale è di 7,2 km! Questo non è un modo onesto di fare business. Raggiungere il mare è praticamente impossibile senza un mezzo adatto. La posizione è isolata, in cima a una montagna, e le indicazioni fornite sono fuorvianti. Uscendo dall’autostrada, Google Maps ci ha guidati su una strada sterrata di 14 km, a doppio senso ma a carreggiata unica, con dirupi e senza guardrail: un percorso pericoloso, soprattutto per chi non ha esperienza di guida. Consigliamo vivamente ai futuri ospiti di scegliere la strada da Camporosso, anch’essa non proprio sicura, ma più gestibile. La casa è circondata da vecchi trattori arrugginiti (un tocco di “design” discutibile?) e da una serra bizzarra con piante grasse, che non aiuta l’estetica. L’isolamento acustico è inesistente: ogni rumore esterno, dai trattori ai vicini, penetra all’interno. Inoltre, l’appartamento sembra non essere aerato da anni, con un’aria stantia che rende l’ambiente poco accogliente. Pagare un extra per un check-in anticipato è inaccettabile per chi ne ha bisogno?considerando che non c’era nessuno ad accoglierci. Fortunatamente, il contatto telefonico con i proprietari è stato efficace.
