Karaköy in Karaköy Hotel

Location was excellent! Cute place with everything you could need and plenty of space for one or two people. Great spot for accessing the touristy parts of the Northern horn and the old town and close to several types of transit. I didn’t realize this when first booking but this is more of an apartment/airbnb than a traditional hotel. I found the staff super helpful and you can leave your bags in the paint store downstairs. The apartment is also in a more industrial part of Karakoy with tool stores etc. Honestly I loved staying in a place that also felt a little more real but is truly just a five minute walk from all the touristy stuff near Galata tower.

It is 13 minutes walking from Galata Tower, with steep hills (to be taken into account). The view from the terrace is nice specially at sunset. The bed is comfortable and the person that writes to you via WhatsApp is nice. It is spacious.

At first I was a bit concerned as the name states this is a hotel but it is not, it more like an AirBnb. The person in charge contacts you via WhatsApp and gives you the keys in front of a paint store, or leaves you the keys with the cashier of a convenience store in the corner of the building. The area is a bit shady and the entrance is located in a “dark” alley so I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND for women travelling alone as you will not feel safe. As this is not a hotel, there is no room cleaning during your stay. The room with a terrace is in the fourth floor without an elevator so it is important you consider this when you book as you will need to climb 4 floor with luggage for example. It is 7/10 clean.
