Florence Walled Garden - The Tom's Private Oasis

This was a beautiful retreat from the chaos of the city. It was quiet, very comfortable and the back garden is lovely. It also backs up to the old city wall, which was amazing. Tom is an amazing host with lots of suggestions. He was so kind and helpful. Will never stay anywhere else in Florence! Also very close to Piazzale Michelangelo and the rose garden, which were gorgeous to stroll through at sunset.

The apartment feels like home and is spacious, modern, airy, very clean and beautifully furnished with everything you could need, all of it in high quality. At the same time it has great historical atmosphere with visible beams in the ceiling, and a lovely terraced garden right next to the ancient city wall. It is the perfect place to relax with a book after a day of exploring the city, or to make a drawing. You hear the church bells from afar and feel far removed from the crowds, yet everything is close at hand when you go outside - coffee bars, many restaurants, shops, artisan workshops, a grocery shop, and it is just a short walk to Ponte Vecchio. It was surprisingly silent at night and we all slept well. We traveled with teens and there were three bathrooms, two with shower - very practical. Also, everything we tried in the apartment worked perfectly: internet, water pressure, air conditioner, Nespresso machine, stove, tv. The neighborhood is busy but not crowded, and you're close to the wonderful Iris garden (open in May) and the Rose garden, and many of the best places and views such as the basilica San Miniato al Monte, Bardini garden and Museum, Boboli gardens and Palazzo Pitti. You cannot find a better place to stay in Florence, I'm sure! We didn't have any trouble at all with the stairs to the apartment (and Tom helped us to carry the luggage), but it could be for someone with a mobility impairment. Tom is a wonderful and very kind and considerate host and made us feel very welcome. Throughout the visit we received various recommendations and hospitality gifts such as a bottle of wine on arrival, traditional breakfast pastries, and because it was my birthday one day, he even bought me a little present! On the first evening he had made an optional reservation to a nice restaurant across the street for us which was great. He also helped us book a taxi to the airport on our last day, and we could leave our luggage in a compartment after check-out.

The location was perfect with everything we needed close by. We loved that the neighborhood was quiet and away for the crowed tourist areas. Tommaso was an exceptional host and quickly responded to any requests. He made sure that we had information about the area and that we felt comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

The stairs to the apartment can be challenging but Tommaso was there to help us with our luggage.
