Pentre Court Cottage

Felt like a real home from home. Probably the best equipped kitchen that we have stayed in. Loads of cups, utensils etc but lots of tea, coffee etc.. Really generous welcome basket and a friendly host.

A couple of minor things: wall lights in top bathroom didn't work. Extractor hood fan was weak (probably needs filter cleaning out) and lights didn't work so probably needs new bulbs.

Amazing house, perfect for a group stay exploring the area. We were very comfortable here. The private garden area is perfect for dogs too. Host was really friendly qnd we appreciated the welcome hamper on check-in!

Cleanliness, plenty of room.

The cottage was very spacious and for our requirements it was in the ideal location. The views from the upstairs bedroom windows were beautiful. It was well heated and there was plenty of hot water. Very good showers. The hosts were very welcoming and proactive. This could be a really fabulous property with some more investment.

The cottage is in a very scruffy state and needs some serious DIY, redecoration and repair. In the handbook the owners write that the upgrading of the cottage is an ongoing project. Unfortunately that is not what we booked. The entrance is particularly poor with the rubbish area looking like a tip and the gardens unkempt. Within the cottage there are numerous basic problems. There are lots of missing light bulbs including the lights over the cooker hood making it virtually impossible to see the induction controls. The extractor fan needs a very good clean. There is a bucket under the sink as there is a leak. The inner seal on the oven is filthy. The freezer hasn't been defrosted in a very long time. There is black mould around the majority of the windows. There was dog hair everywhere. We were still sweeping it up on the day we left, and we were there for a week. Far too many cushions, throws and clutter everywhere. When it rains there is a continuous loud dripping from a gutter that splashes onto a plastic veranda roof below that makes sleeping in the first floor double bedroom virtually impossible without ear plugs. Too many plug-in chemical air fresheners. Possibly to mask a rather unpleasant smell in the 1st floor bathroom and WC that built up during our stay. Unfortunately the extractor fan doesn't work. Finally, the cottage is described as 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms which is not accurate. There are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a cloakroom. A cloakroom is not a bathroom. If I book a one bedroom, one bathroom cottage I would be very unhappy if there was no bath or shower. Usually a cloakroom is considered a bathroom just for insurance purposes.
