Pure relaxation in a beautiful part of Finland.

Everything was incredible. This place truly exceeded our expectations. It was reachable by bus, perfect for us as we chose not to drive. The cabin was very spacious and comfy. Great to have heating and a fire. The weather was cold, but inside stayed nice and toasty even in - 24 degrees outside. The surroundings are stunning, peaceful and with all the gear provided as part of the stay (snow shoes, forest skis, kick sleds, sledges) we made the most of exploring nature. Riita-Liisa, who runs Eco-Unela is one of the nicest people we have ever met. She was great at recommending things to do like local walks. She even went forest skiing and laid us a track we could follow. She is part of the charm of what makes this place so special. We stayed 3 nights and despite the eco-toilet being a challenge in cold temperatures, we were sad to leave. We felt truly relaxed after our stay. The sauna and wash area were also a highlight. Washing finnish style was more fun than we had expected! We even saw the aurora every night!

A beautiful and memorable experience

It was quite a memorable experience staying at Eco-Unela. It’s a very cute place amidst forest which makes the stay very special and unique! The owner, Riitta-Liisa was very kind and welcoming. Although we arrived late in the evening, she made sure the cabin was kept warm and comfortable for us to rest. The sauna was great and very relaxing after wandering in the snow all day! The property also has other things to use free of charge like snow shoes etc which comes in very handy to go out and about in deep snow! Cherry on the cake for us was watching northern lights right above our hut which made our trip truly unforgettable!! Absolutely worth it☺️☺️

Beautiful, peaceful, and deeply atmospheric - a place made with real care and soul

Riitta-Liisa is an exceptionally warm and welcoming host, and it is genuinely impressive to realise that she has built and created this entire place herself. Every corner is full of thoughtful details: small signs, lights, decorations — all the little things you start noticing almost immediately and that together create a very special, cozy atmosphere. Everything feels intentional, beautiful, and cared for. I stayed here for two days, and it quickly became clear that this place deserves more time. The surrounding forest is absolutely stunning — simply walking through it already feels like an experience. I highly recommend making a fire at the spot further away on the slope: the view opening onto the forest horizon is breathtaking and unforgettable. Being so far from everything else brings a deep sense of peace and calm. You truly disconnect and slow down. At the same time, you can’t help but feel immense respect for Riitta, who takes care of everything herself on a daily basis — clearing snow, maintaining the place, constantly improving and fixing things. It’s inspiring to see how much dedication, strength, and love she puts into this place.

The only thing I would suggest improving is having a proper toilet with sewage. Everything else is easy to adapt to, but a more comfortable toilet would make the experience much better. Just a note for those travelling by public transport: buses can be unreliable and don’t always stop as expected, so it’s best not to rely on them fully if you have a tight schedule.

Wonderful accommodation surrounded by nature

It was a wonderful stay, Riitta was always helpful and friendly. The sauna was a fantastic experience surrounded by nature. It's in a great location where we could observe the Northern Lights, nestled in the forest, and all the necessary kitchen equipment and facilities are available.We couldn't get enough, we'll be back again.

A magical, peaceful retreat in the heart of the Finnish wilderness—simply unforgettable

Everything! The cabin was an absolute dream—nestled deep in the peaceful Finnish forest, far away from everything, yet still only 40 minutes from Rovaniemi. The whole place is designed to be in perfect harmony with nature: the cabins are built with sustainable materials, decorated with impeccable taste, and fully equipped while maintaining that cozy, minimalistic charm. We were surrounded by pure silence, snow-covered trees, and magical light. It felt like we had the whole forest to ourselves. Everything was incredibly clean, well-maintained, and filled with small thoughtful details that made us feel at home. The perfect place to disconnect, reconnect with nature, and just breathe.

Honestly, nothing. Maybe that we didn’t stay longer! It’s the kind of place you leave already planning your return.

Better than any 5* resort

An absolutely unbelievable magical Finnish experience! Riitta-Liisa was the perfect host. The cabin was beautiful and clean, with everything we could have needed, including a memory foam bed. The sauna and hot tub were beyond our wildest dreams, the attention to detail in the sauna was ridiculous with multiple choices of shampoo and body wash as well as a choice of drinks in the entrance. Riitta-Liisa always ensured the sauna was on for us whenever we desired. The hot tub was incredible, Riitta-Liisa ensured it was the perfect temperature. It’s a must do when staying here! The best part about the stay was the unlimited access to skis and snow shoes (which she personally adjusted to fit our shoes) on her private forest trails, including a tobaggan hill and lunch fire hut. Riitta-Liisa is an incredible and kind host, with great attention to detail. She helped us start the fire pit, knocked on our door to alert us to the northern lights, and she gifted us home made cake and roses as it was my birthday when staying there. I cannot recommend this stay and this host enough and will definitely be returning!

Absolutely Magical. The Northern lights were the icing on the cake.

If you are looking for the great outdoors, peace & quiet I cannot recommend this place enough. An absolute GEM in Rovaniemi. Away from all the commercial touristic usuals. Elämysmajoitus Eco-Unela embraces the true Finnish outdoors. Traditional Sauna, Heroes bath (for the brave), and just beautiful nature. Also a great location if you want to catch the northern lights around a campfire.

We loved absolutely everything. It was exactly what we were looking for and wondered why there weren't many places like this. A true Diamond in the Rough.

Enchanting place in the most beautif forest

Eco Unela is the most beautiful and charming place that I have seen after traveling for different continents. Riita the owner is pure magic as the place. Every single thing is made with “ love and soul “. You breath the mist natural and fresh air possible and with connection with nature is just amazing. The cabin is simple but it has all you need. There’s no electricity or running water inside but you don’t need it. Instead you have the fire, candles and flashlights. We loved the trekking in the forest using the snow shoes we borrow from Riita, the ski was very fun and the sauna is the best In the world. Riita shared some time with us and we really enjoyed the friendship we created. This entire experience meant a lot to us. Don’t hesite to stay in this place, it can be different but 100% worthy.

Cozy, but inxonvenient.

The property is like a village, its has got a few cottages, one of them is where the owner stays, the rest may by mini cottages for guest, there is cottage which is a fire place, a sauna, a Christmas house … overall a very cozy place.

The room given to us was really small, there is no bathroom and no kitchen. If you need to tKe shower, you need to use the one where the owner stays, and its about 30m away. It may not sounds far for a good day, but in winter when cold can be extreme, can be a pain. There is a eco-toilet outsidr our cottage, but if temperature is -15DegC, you probably dont want to use it, way too cold.

Nice and cozy cabin in nature with amazing view

I was surprised with my wife, how amazing accommodation was that. The host - Riitta was very kindful and helpful. The cabin was ready for us perfectly. She taked care about us. She prepared sauna, which is totally traditional, not electric, but wood heated, wonderful experience. Everything from eco materials, wood everywhere you can look. Unfortunately we could be there only one night, I hope we visit the camp again, we want that certainly, maybe also in the summer. Also you can borrow ski or snowshoes or you can use a typical Finnish Kota. Our dinner in Kota was also wonderful and authentic moment in our lives. We hold our fingers Riitta in her bussiness and we wish a lot of clients. Thank you for everything !

Unieke beleving!

Het is een unieke plek! Wij verbleven 2 nachten in een gezellige, eenvoudige hut met prachtig uitzicht. Riita-Liisa is een heel vriendelijke vrouw en helpt je waar nodig. Tegen de -30 was het even wennen om buiten naar het toilet te gaan. Maar de hut bleef met een elektrische- en gaskachel lekker warm. In de hut konden wij maaltijden maken met een magnetron, airfryer en kookpitje. De sauna, wasruimte en zelfs het ijsbad maken het verblijf heel speciaal. Ook de materialen (ski, slee en sneeuwschoenen) zijn leuk om de omgeving te verkennen. Er zijn verschillende leuke vuur/bbq plaatsen. Wij gebruikte degene in het bos bij zonsondergang, prachtig! Wij kwamen na een verblijf in Rovaniemi met de bus naar Ellilä en namen terug een Uber naar de luchthaven. Alle boodschappen voor ons verblijf namen we mee. Wij vonden de reuring van Rovaniemi en de rust bij Eco-Unela een heerlijke combinatie. Een echte beleving en aanrader!

Nuestra experiencia en Econunela fue excelente. Es un lugar súper acogedor donde realmente se vive la experiencia finlandesa. Hay de todo para disfrutar y jugar en la nieve, ideal tanto para niños como para adultos. Las cabañas son muy cómodas, cálidas y acogedoras, perfectas para descansar después de un día en el frío. Rita es súper linda, atenta y siempre dispuesta a ayudar, lo que hace que la estancia sea aún más especial. Sin duda, un lugar muy recomendable para vivir una experiencia auténtica en Finlandia.

静かな自然の中でゆったりとした時間を過ごすことが出来ました。コテージも想像以上に物が揃っていて何も困ることが無かったです。サウナも良かったです。スノーシューズなども自由に使用できるので、雪深い森の中の散策やそり遊びも楽しめました！暖炉の火の調整も奥深く、普段はできない経験を味わえました。オーナーのRittaさんのサポートも素晴らしかったです。

公共のバスを使用しましたが、帰りのバスが止まってくれなかったので焦りました。頻繁に起こることなのかわかりませんが、最寄りの確実にバスが止まる停留所を利用した方がいいのかも知れません。

wir haben ein kleines rustikes Zimmer erwartet. Es war eine Cabin in der Mitte der Wald. Die Gastgeberin war sehr nett und hilfsbereit

Es gab kein Strom und kein fließendes Wasser : es ist bei der Beschreibung auf Booking.com nirgendwo geschrieben. Man muss sich das Badzimmer teilen und es gibt keine Dusche sondern nur Fässer mit kaltem und warmen Wasser... Für EUR 50 pro Nacht wäre es verständlich aber nicht für EUR 155... Die Kunden von Booking.com müssen mehr Info erhalten.

TOUT ! Tout est magnifique, propre, bien pensé. On a eu une "yourt"magnifique, bien chaude décorée avec goût et soin. Le lit est très confortable. Riitta-Liisa est une super hôte. On est vraiment perdu dans la nature mais aucun problème de réseau. Le matériel mis à disposition tout était parfait.

Experiencia perfecta

Fue una experiencia única, en un lugar mágico. La cabaña estaba en medio de la montaña cerca del resto de instalaciones. La sauna estaba incluida en la reserva y fue una grata sorpresa. Tiene una zona común para hacer barbacoa con todo el equipamiento. Dispone de raquetas, trineos y esquís a disposición de los huéspedes. Rita siempre está pendiente de todo. Repetiríamos sin lugar a duda.

可愛い小屋で1人静かに過ごすことができた。サウナも1時間貸切させてくれて、伝統的なサウナを楽しんだ。暇な時には、フォレストスキーやソリを無料でおこなうことができ、深雪の森の中を散歩すると、とても気分がいい。何より、夜には明かりを消し、オーロラをゆったりと鑑賞することができる。オーナーの方もとても良い方で、困りごとに臨機応変に対応してくれる。大満足です。

Wybitne przeżycie!

Doświadczenie w typie once in a lifetime. Widać, że w miejsce włożona jest ogromna ilość serca. Właścicielka jest niesamowicie pomocna, przed naszym przyjazdem przygotowała nam saunę, nagrzała domek i pokazała co i jak mimo późnej godziny przyjazdu. Domek bardzo przytulny i w otoczeniu dzikiej natury. To było dokładnie to czego szukaliśmy w Finlandii i więcej. Ciężko nam będzie znaleźć coś równie dobrego!

Einmalige, sensationelle Winteroase

Ein absolutes Highlight unserer Ferien. Weit entfernt vom touristischen Rovaniemi (etwa 40min), gibt es eine kleine, von Riita selbst gebaute Winteroase. Mit unserer Hütte, die wir selber Feuern mussten, waren wir komplett mit der Natur verbunden. Perfekt, um vom hektischen Alltag abzuschalten. Es gibt eine selbstgebaute, traditionelle Feuersauna, eine Kota (wo man auf traditionellerweise Kochen und essen kann), einige warmherzige Aufenthaltsorte und vieles mehr. Mann konnte sogar (im Preis inklusive!!) Ski und Schneeschuhe nehmen und den wunderschönen, idilischen Wald erkunden. Mit Riita hatten wir tolle Gespräche und wir durften sogar mit zum Icefishing gehen, was uns sehr gefallen hat. Am meisten hat man die Passion und Liebe gespürt, die Riita in diesem Ort reingesteckt hat. Alles in allem eine wirklich sensationelle Erfahrung, welches wir in dieser Form noch nie erlebt haben. Eine 11 von 10!

Dépaysement écolo au pays des lapons

Le concept, l'emplacement, le sauna, le matériel à disposition ( raquettes, ski ), la gentillesse de notre hôtesse, la possibilité d'utiliser la cuisine et la sdb de l'hôtesse, la tranquilité et l'authenticité des lieux.

Je n'ai rien contre les toilettes sèches mais à l'extérieur, sans électricité et par -25° C, je trouve que ça n'a pas le même charme... Heureusement, les toilettes de l'hôtesse sont à disposition ( mais pas n'importe quand cependant ). Chauffage électrique de 2000 watts un peu juste par -25° C, surtout au niveau du sol quand il y a des courants d'air ( un peu calmés en calfeutrant la porte d'entrée ). Grosses chaussettes bienvenues.
