Bright Cottage Close to Bayside Beaches

The location is great,maybe 5 minutes from the Wellfleet drive in, which is more than just movies btw,but they were closed when I was here(end of Sept 2025),just under 10 minutes from Cape Cod National Park, Eastham lighthouse and the beaches. Another pleasant surprise was that this time of the year, Park fees are suspended, so didn't need to pay for my visits. The cottage was perfect size for 1 person, but didn't feel cramped. Parking in front of your cottage, plenty of trash bins, and patio yard more than adequate. Enjoyed my 1 day of sunshine 🌞 reading in the comfy lounge chair. Kitchen is well stocked of dishes,utensils & unless you have a favorite cooking item(like I brought my rice cooker), next time I'll leave more stuff at home. I brought my own towels, so that would stay the same. Very basic towel set up(1 towel,2 face cloths), so I'd still bring my own. Bathroom on small side,but plenty of tp, shampoo and body wash products provided. Dish & hand soaps, trash bags provided. It made no difference to me, but furniture was different than what picture showed. I'll definitely be staying at a Del Mar vacation place in the future. Any questions I had were promptly answered ,staff very friendly, which I appreciated as this was my 1st rental cottage. The price was definitely very competitive with the hotels in the area, as it's still "in season " on the Cape until after Halloween 🎃. Eating my own meals saved me a bundle ($$)and saved more $for going shopping 🛍 😀 😄, which the big Red Barn is the place for candy, food/pizza, tourist stuff & mini golf. I was there for the candy mostly . Best experience was the quiet of the area,no loud people/animals,having a private area to watch TV, read,crochet etc. Having a private yard to myself when I wanted to be outside, the availability of the gas BBQ & patio set,which you don't get with a hotel/motel.

The microwave was in an awkward place for me(I'm hobit sized with arthritic knees),but staff assured me that it would be changed in the future. The toilet was very low, but since the bathroom is kinda tight, I figured it couldn't go higher. The mattress, I feel, needs updating, and I suggested a memory foam for future replacement. I would have loved to have a DVD player to use my own movies. The only other thing I'd suggest is to have a Visitor Basket with listings of pizza and restaurants that are close by, as well as maybe a town /area map so people can see where stuff is located. Yes, people have their phones, but what about the visitors that don't, or just want an idea of where shopping/groceries/ice cream are in immediate area. I would have probably tried a few more stores in the area had I'd known about them, but there's only a Martha's Vinyard phone directory which doesn't work for the Eastham/Wellfleet area.

We liked the proximity to the bike trail and bay beaches. We loved the small fenced in yard and outside sitting area. It was quiet at night.

The sofa/sitting area was uncomfortable. Not all windows had privacy curtains or mini blinds. A few more hooks for coats would have been helpful. The bathroom door didn't close properly. The gas grill was unusable because the valve would not open. A colander in the kitchen for draining pasta would be nice.
