Nightingale Cottage

Quaint cottage in the old part of Llantwit Major a lovely little Welsh village. The local people were very friendly and welcoming and there were shops, pubs and eateries close by. There is a good sized, well equipped kitchen in the property, with an excellent oven and hob. The lounge is cosy, with a lovely fireplace and log burner (which we didn’t use in the middle of summer, but it would be lovely in the winter)

The stairs were very difficult with no carpet, which looked a bit scruffy. There was no door on the shower room and toilet, although there is space to fit one. No matter how long you have known someone, a little privacy is needed sometimes! There is hardly any outside space.

Llantwit Major itself is a most charming place to visit if you want to enjoy staying in a friendly community. Lovely old buildings, great people, all saying 'hello' and the cottage is in the old part of town, opposite the Parish church and so perfectly placed for walks on the other side of the church. With 5 pubs and 2 restaurants between 45 seconds and 2 minutes away, the location was really special. The cottage is charming and full of period features with a hint of Thai influence, very well presented and spacious. A bright kitchen with excellent appliances, a true home from home. The dog was equally at home and one evening I lit the fire to dry him (and me) out. We both sat in front of it gratefully. I guess that by now you realise I loved it!

Very little not to like! There was no stairs light so I had to go upstairs, turn on the lights and walk back down to switch the downstairs light off. Not a big deal, quirky though. The shower was delightful and powerful, sadly I did make a little mess of the flooring as I seemed to have splashed everywhere.

Not having a door on the bathroom or some kind of curtain etc some things just need to be done in private 😂
