Spacious & Bright 3 Bedroom House in St Helens

The area was quiet

Firstly we were asked to pay a refundable £500 damage deposit or a non refundable £35 damage waiver, which we paid. Upon arriving, the living room smelt of cigarette smoke even though there are signs throughout to say no smoking. The house was freezing as the boiler was off and there was no thermostat so it took the entire evening for the house to become semi warm (we all slept fully clothed) the radiators only heat up at the bottom as they all clearly need bleeding. The landing light didn't work so we had to walk up the stairs in the dark. The bathroom was dirty. There was no mirror, the window latch was broken, the shower was electric and if you turned it up to anything passed 7 for heat, the pressure became virtually a dribble. With 3 of us showering every night this was a lengthy process. Towels couldn't dry properly because of the radiator issue. The back bedroom sheets had stains on them, the front double room only had one decent plug socket near the bed and the small front box room only had a plug socket literally down the side of the bed so nade it difficult to charge a phone and plug in a laptop. We didn't use the kitchen so I can't comment on appliances and the outside bin was overflowing with rubbish so we had to leave our one takeaway bag on the kitchen side. We stay in contractor houses at least once a month up and down the country and this was by far the most unpleasant. The house was either too hot or too cold and very difficult to get to a reasonable temperature. We wouldn't return and believe the damage deposit request should either be lowered or removed entirely if the house isn't going to be brought up to the standard it should be
