Riad SULTANA

Mohammed was extremely helpful, arranging transportation from the ferry to the Riad, a driver for a 1/2 day we wanted to do, and a guide just for us for a tour of the Kasbah, Medina and nearby areas, which suited us perfectly. Other staff were lovely also. Breakfast on the terrace was delicious and fresh. We were a bit concerned that we wouldn’t find our way back when we went out but it was not that difficult. We were happy to not be o. Top of the hill.

Our room was very clean but could use a dehumidifier as it could be a bit damp, which I’m sure is not uncommon in that area.

The interior design and the terrace are great.

Very small room with no window to the outside. The window opens to the doorway which you want closes so people cannot look inside. There is bad smell from the drainage because of poor ventilation. Rustic floor design makes you not notice easily that it is dusty. No hotel name sign and house number is not visible so I had to guess the door of the hotel upon arrival.

This was a beautiful riad in the middle of the Medina very close to all the main sights. It was great value for money, had wonderfully helpful staff and a fantastic roof terrace on which to start your day with a delicious breakfast. There was always plenty of hot water for a relaxing shower at the end of the day. Restaurant Dada, just round the corner from the riad, was recommended by the staff and it was a brilliant find. It was idea for dinner when I was tired after a great day soaking up the sights and sounds of the Medina and Kasbah or travelling to Chefchaouen or Tetouan. Again, the staff organised a taxi driver for the day to take me to these two latter sights and he took great care if me. I hope to return again to the riad in the future.

There was nothing I would complain about but there are probably some things that travellers should know before booking. This riad is in the middle of the Medina so be prepared to be briefly woken up early in the morning with the call to prayer from the local mosque. It is a traditional riad so there isn't a wardrobe just coat hooks for you clothes so take some hangers with you. The bathroom floor tends to get wet when using the shower so also take some flip-flops with you to stop yourself slipping.
