Yes it was basic but good

We though we were going to have three beds ready but there were only two

The apartment was bigger than we expected.

We liked the size of the apartment, and the size of the main bedroom. The location was in a nice, local area, which meant most restaurants were cheaper than the main city and no tourist traps. Also a very short walk from a bus stop and tram station. The washing machine was great, and super helpful having come from the amalfi coast and needing to do some laundry. The living room had a pullout bed, which was nice as well. And the host, Daniel was very helpful for most things. He even let us store our bags in the room a little longer while he cleaned it, because we had a lot of time before our flight and didn't want to drag our bags around Rome.

When we arrived, the elevator was not working. We had tons of bags, so we were not going to walk up 5 flights up stairs with them. Apparently, the 8th floor door doesn't close properly, so my husband had to run upstairs and close it before it would work. This happened 3 times during our stay. Not Daniel's fault but it was very frustrating for us. The balcony was alright, but we were facing a hundred other apartments so it felt uncomfortable and we had no privacy or view at all, which was a little disappointing. The shower did not drain at all when we arrived. After a long day of travelling, I went in the shower and the water just kept filling up the tub. I was standing in 3 inches of water by the end and it took almost 15 minutes to drain. Thankfully, Daniel did come by really quickly to come fix it. There were no kitchen towels or paper towels anywhere, so we had to resort to using a bath towel to dry our hands in the kitchen or to dry any dishes. Daniel said there was some rule about him providing too many amenities (like paper towels) would somehow classify the room as a hotel? It did not make much sense to us and we did a bit of research, but couldn't find anything online about it. Some of the cups in the cupboard were very dirty when we arrived too so we had to rewash them. There was also no hand soap in the bathroom or anywhere else. Daniel did offer to bring us some when we asked, but it seemed like an odd thing not to include automatically. Daniel, while helpful when we asked and quick to respond, bugged us about a 10/10 review from the first day we got there, till we were leaving with our bags, which we found off putting. Would have liked to leave a better review but I don't want to be dishonest.
