Bakers Yard Cottage

The location was perfect, tucked away in a quiet lane but less than a minute's walk from the pubs, cafes, shops etc. of Grasmere. The cottage was really comfortable, and the bedrooms being downstairs was a welcome bonus as it meant they stayed lovely and cool during the recent heatwave. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the window upstairs gave us a gorgeous view while we enjoyed our breakfast. And the neighbours were lovely, coming out to see if we needed help with the parking!

Although it wasn't dirty by any means, certain areas could do with a deep clean. There were a number of spiders upstairs, which wasn't a huge problem, but from the amount of cobwebs, it was clear they'd been there a while. The toaster was full of crumbs and a number of the dishes needed to be rewashed before we could use them. As for the parking, there seems to be mixed reviews on whether or not the space is too small. And honestly, unless you have a very narrow city car, you will struggle. I wouldn't say our car is big (2 Series), but my partner had to tuck the wingmirrors in and reverse down the lane while I guided him through, and even with the mirrors tucked, the car was almost touching the walls on either side of the narrowest part of the lane. To make things more difficult, there's also a bollard in the parking space so you need to be careful not to drive over it. If you make it down the lane, the space is big enough, but getting there will be tight. We ended up parking in Red Bank car park from our second night onwards, which is only a couple of minutes walk from the cottage.

Great Location and easy access to all of the Village facilities.

Car parking, although it is described as for a "small" car, likely Fiat 500 sized.

Location is amazing, 2 minutes from all of Grasmere's shops and cafe's. Also 2 minutes away from the bus route. Garden area was wonderful, beautiful surroundings and nice and private. Very comfortable in the bedrooms and the lounge.

There was a strange smell we couldn't identify, not disturbing but strange.
