BEST CHOICE - Hotel Royal

I arrived in the dark and it wasn’t easy to find , it didn’t look like a hotel as described . It was down a back alley & I was a bit scared . No hot water - couldn’t have a shower No milk for a hot drink No towels No heating Lipstick on the drinking glass Fire alarm battery was low and kept beeping all night long , I emailed the owner . I left the place after my first night and booked in somewhere else for the following 2 nights .

I honestly cant say a good thing about this place.

Literally the worst hotel experience I have ever had, we left to find alternative accommodation and didn't even spend the night here. Hotel entrance smelled of cannabis, and our room smelled like cigarette smoke. The staff had obviously noticed and had left the window wide open to try to air the room out. It didn't work, and in October meant the room was freezing cold. The bathroom light didn't work. The beds had stains on them. The walls were covered in black marks and some very questionable stains. I raised these concerns through booking.com and with the staff via whatsapp and have requested a refund as we didn't end up staying, and they have stopped responding to me. Absolutely terrible place, stay away.

The location is a bit hidden and the map stops you before the location. Calling customer service is a waste of time as the call does not get answered. The entrance to the hotel is a safety hazard due to the steep and hollow staircase. The room came with a'private toilet and bathroom' which happened to be way down the corridor. The toilet seat is broken and held at an end with cellotape. No toilet roll provided. No hanger in the bathroom for towels, Not to forget that the toilet also used as storage for ladder and cleaning stuff for equipment. The bedside locker is broken and just patched up together but comes apart once touched. There is no heating in the room. When the staff was contacted, he stated he was going to check it out and never returned nor answered his phone till we left. The bed-sheets was very dirty with stains all over and to top it all, a curtain was used in place of duvet. The walls have nasty stains on them.

The location was perfect for the town centre however I had to get up both mornings to put a ticket on the car , paid parking from 8am to 6pm every day

The parking was an issue, I went away and was hoping for a lie in on my days off. There was no heating or hot water for the whole weekend. It was cold and we couldn’t shower. The owner ( I presume ) came on Saturday to inform us he was trying to fix it but it wasn’t. We were up 3 flights of stairs not easy with suit cases. The fire alarm went off the whole time we were there , beeping I presume needing a new battery. The bed was actually comfortable but the mattress was filthy, I went out and bought a mattress protector. Holes in the walls , wardrobe drawer was hanging off. I’m not one to leave a bad review but it was the combination of things and the fact me and the kids errr cold and couldn’t shower was not good at all.

Nothing. It's a dump. Don't bother. It looks nothing like the pictures. I felt dirty being there. No one at the hotel to assist in anything. No hot water, bed collapsed, no mirror in the bathroom or light bulb. Totally avoid at all costs.

Peaceful place I was staying alone and its next to town center

Water coming out of the bathroom light , wet carpets , smelling of damp and cigarette smoke . Dirty bedding , broken window latches , dirty walls

There were rats running around at the front door and the property inside was not up To standard either we ended up Not staying and having to book somewhere else that night. I have allready sent an email Explaining this and requested a refund

Staff were friendly , self check in was nice and easy. The bathroom was clean.

Room was noisy, bedside cabinets were broken, TV had no remote , safe code didn't work. These things didn't really matter they were minor issues, the lovely cleaning lady was very approachable and sorted us a remote straight away. People in next room were smoking weed and the whole place smelled like it, the moment you got onto the floor the smell was overwhelming

There was no remote available in the room to watch TV There was no coffee or milk in the room. I asked the host for these basic requirements but he never turned up. The bedding was tired,unkempt and it was evident, it had not been changed.

The staff were nice, very helpful and attentive. Very good location of the hotel, literally in the middle of a town centre.

Very expensive parking outside costing me on top of the hotel fee £8.90 per day, not £5 as it's mentioned in the hotel description on Booking.com. Bed smell of dump in the bathroom, no place to hang your towels in the bathroom. The water kettle was broken and I had to wait until the late afternoon next day for another one, to be able to prepare myself some hot drinks which I had to go and buy it myself because wasn't available in the room. No tea bags or coffee provided by the property at all, none whatsoever. No tissue box provided as well.

Dead insects in the bathroom mould in the shower and other people's hair in the bed rats in the carpark all the shouting amnd banging at 3.00am
