高野山 宿坊 光明院 -Koyasan Shukubo Komyoin-

Of all the places we visited, Koyasan for sure was the most magical of them all. The monks of the Shukubo Komyoin were very kind, spoke English very well, and gave us all the information we needed straight ahead (the temple curfew, hours of the rituals, meditation, and obviously dinner and breakfast). We were welcomed at check-in with matcha tea and some sweets. Needless to say, both dinner and breakfast were amazing, but the most special parts were the morning ritual and the fire ritual. We truly didn't expect to live such experiences. The location is very comfortable and close to the Okunoin monumental cemetery (an incredible, unskippable place if you come to Koyasan), and obviously the Okunoin-mae bus stop. If you ever need to take a bus to Hongu/Tanabe City to walk the Kumano Kodo, as we did, this is the ideal place to stay, as it's only a 15–20-minute walk to the stop (book the bus in advance). We will for sure come back sometime in the future.

I wouldn't change anything! The next time we come to Koyasan we will for sure stay at least 2 nights!

Beautiful temple lodge, we really liked our room and the dining salon. It was great to enjoy the onsen before the dinner and evening meditation. Highly recommended experience!

The temple is beautiful. The people are friendly. Loved the room where we had tea and meals. Close to night tour. Ceremonies were beautiful
