There was a wonderful coffee bar set up for us. The wifi and owner info was readily visible. The beds were really comfortable also. The price was inviting, and we appreciate the ability to arrange a last minute reservation as we were traveling across country.
The carpet was unclean and had a sticky feel; it was uncomfortable allowing the baby to crawl around. The water coming out of the shower head sputtered the entire time, I'm unsure if it's the equipment or a water issue, though. The smoke detectors were placed in rooms on top of furniture (not on the ceiling), and one was hanging from the ceiling by the wires. But, not being from northern U.S., I don't know what the fire code is in Illinois. I would have liked some check out directions (trash, laundry, etc) to make sure I was complying with the owner's expectations as a guest in their home. This is of no fault of the owners, but the neighborhood felt very unsafe for me and my kids- perhaps the fact we arrived so late, we arrived at midnight, there were several groups of people gathered outside and they were very loud including yelling negatively at others. Maybe the consideration of adding more outdoor lights could help guests feel safer.

It was easy to get into with the code. The manager replied to an email promptly when we had a question. The appliances worked well. The air conditioning was great in the high heat we had. The location was good in that it was not a far drive to the Lincoln sites and the State Capitol.
The carpets were stained and very dirty. The "patio" in the back of the house with nothing like the picture on Booking! It was filthy and there was no furniture. There was a smoke detector hanging by its cords from the ceiling in the bedroom. The floor in the bathroom, close to the tub, was very soft and uneven, making it a little unsafe when exiting the tub/shower. The yard needed a lot of work on the landscaping (again, nothing like the picture.)
