We chose to get a little feel of what living in Pennsylvania was all about. What a wonderful time we had. The house was very clean and has everything you need. The fresh eggs everyday was an added tasty feature. The family who live on the property are so friendly and very respectable of your space. We loved sitting out on the porch with the ceiling fans running and watching the fireflies. It was so relaxing. Our grandson had LaCrosse games at the university which was minutes away. What a beautiful site.

I waited some time before writing this because my intention is not to leave a poor review but there are some issues we ran into that were pretty significant and I feel others should be aware. Had I known in advance I would have stayed elsewhere. First of all I will say that this is a cute home, comfortable and very charming. The goats and chickens were a plus for us and entertaining for our 3 kids. We also enjoyed the fire pit and got to see deer cross the field a few times. Wonderful atmosphere. On the second day we started to fill the bath for my daughter and the water was very cloudy and a yellow/brown color. This is of course after we had been drinking and cooking in it for over 24 hours so that was worrisome. I contacted the host and he said he had never seen anything like it. He did have someone drop off a case of water which didn’t last our fam of 5 even 24hrs. My kids refused to bath the whole week we were there and we ended up buying a bunch of bottled water to drink, make coffee, tea, cook, brush teeth. Visiting from FL it felt very post-hurricane and was such a source of stress. We did wash our clothes at the end of the week and the water stained almost everything!!! I have washed the clothes since and nothing came clean. That’s a weeks worth of clothes for a family of 5 that is now ruined and as usual, I don’t pack “play clothes” on vacation, it is of course everyone’s favorite outfits.
Smaller issues would be the quantity of bugs in the house and a huge nest of bees that has made a home in the side of the house between the 2 upstairs windows. They weren’t a bother to us but if someone was visiting who had a severe allergy, this would be very concerning. A little pest control and a water treatment system on the house to address water issues would make this an amazing place to stay. I wish I could upload pictures (showing the bath water, a pitcher of yellow water, orange brown residue from the faucets and shower head, stains on clothes, clearly this is a long term issue and not something that just suddenly started) but there is nowhere to attach photos to this review. I wish I was sharing a different experience but this should be something future guests should be aware of.
