Our stay at Castello di Volpaia was pure magic - not just because of the breathtaking views and charming medieval village, but because of the incredible team who made us feel truly at home. From the moment we arrived, Fabio, Francesco, and Lorenzo went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. Their warmth, humor, and passion for this special place bring Volpaia to life. Fabio welcomed us with such genuine kindness, Francesco shared stories and recommendations that only a true local could offer, and Lorenzo’s enthusiasm made our wine tasting one of the highlights of our trip. The rooms are beautiful, the views over the Chianti hills are spectacular, and breakfast on the terrace feels like a postcard come to life - but it’s the people who make this place truly exceptional. Castello di Volpaia isn’t just a destination; it’s an experience - one filled with heart, history, and hospitality at its finest. We left with full hearts (and a few bottles of wine, of course) and can’t wait to return.

Highly recommend as a really different and beautiful place to stay.

The location is fantastic and the village of Volpaia was magic. There are 2 excellent restaurants and a bar/cafe. We liked the way our room was divided into a bedroom and completely separate bathroom and dressing room. Beautiful grounds and swimming pool.

Breakfast was very ordinary. Not much choice. Staff not interested at all. Coffee very good. The fridge in the room didn't work and was not fixed despite repeated requests. One day the room was not serviced at all.

A lovely place where I wish to come again…

Everything it is absolutely gorgeous. The place is full of history. It’s a quiet place where you can relax with a glass of a good wine and just enjoy the beauty of the hills that surrounds you. The apartment that we stayed is just vast with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, kitchen and living room (aprox 130 mp) with comfy beds and old furniture, but quality one, so…yes…it’s a nice place…

Wonderful accommodation in a fantastic location

Although we were late arriving, Lorenzo was very efficient and accommodating. Donika was waiting for us as we drew up in the square, and kindly showed us to our beautiful room, and made sure our reservation at the restaurant was kept open. We had a wonderful stay - so good to return to the area after nine years and to find it still as amazing as we remembered it! The room was full of character - clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and a lovely view - and breakfast on the terrace was excellent. What more do you need?! We shall definitely be returning!

Absolutely lovely place!

I had a really lovely experience staying at Castelul de Vâlcoaia. I absolutely loved the location – it’s a wonderful place for anyone who enjoys peace and wants to truly relax surrounded by the beauty of nature. It’s the perfect spot to disconnect from the noise and stress of everyday life. I enjoyed everything during my stay, from the cozy atmosphere to the welcoming staff.

My only suggestion would be to add a few more fresh vegetables and salads to the breakfast options, as well as a pair of slippers for the room, especially since the floor can be a bit cold at times. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality. I definitely look forward to coming back again soon and spending more time at this beautiful place!

We felt welcomed, wanted, important, and appreciated to the point we intend to return as soon as we can.

The property was super clean, quiet, quaint, and visually engaging. We felt, for the most part, like we were the only visitors staying there.

The bees station by the pool made it so you couldn’t comfortably hang out at the pool. In the pool you were fine, but outside the pool you were constantly being buzzed by the bees. As someone who is allergic to bees in wasn’t very relaxing. My wife isn’t allergic and she said it still wasn’t comfortable with the bees. Maybe reconsider the placement of the beehive if possible.

Fantastic, cozy stay in the rolling hills of Tuscany. Would stay here again!!

We stayed in the Apartment which had this amazing view and yard that looked over the rolling hills of Tuscany. The little "town" was perfect for meals - we had dinner at Bar Ucci (great pasta!) and Osteria di Volpaia (probably some of the best food we had our whole trip - get the pheasant ravoli and the florentine steak at a minimum!), The staff was extremely welcoming and breakfast was fantastic each day. Major shout out to our two friends at breakfast setting up a fantastic spread, freshly made eggs, and a high chair for our toddler. Each of the staff members made us feel SO at home especially with our little curious toddler. Other major highlights: the towels in the apartment were so thick and plush (normally places like this have very thin towels that are hard to use). Honestly our stay was a dream, we loved every second of it. We took a tour of the entire winery and how they have repurposed this medieval town to product wine. We bought a bottle then enjoyed the view from our yard. It was the perfect place to slown down a little and just enjoy the beauty of Tuscany.

The lunch options were difficult - I had read only that the Forno Volpaia had breads, pizzas, etc., throughout the day so we were expecting more options than just focaccia and salami. That was difficult for us specifically because we had a sleeping toddler and couldn't easily go out for more food. I know it would potentially take away from the quaintness of Volpaia but it was hard to have access to nothing else we would need (the nearest small grocery store was 11 minutes away which isn't bad but having access to some basics would be nice, even just behind the front desk).

Perfect Tuscan getaway

You are in a really quiet village and you look at the Tuscan hills from the window of your room. How to beat that. It was the best room in our entire trip. Impeccable on the inside and ancient and original on the outside. Breakfast is amazing and they skillfully prepare your hot food/drinks like eggs/capucino on the spot, per your request.

Not much, besides the fact that it rained for 1 day during our visit 😁. Would be nice to have some option to buy water and alike since you need to travel otherwise to a larger next village.

Beautiful, Modern Stay in the Countryside

We stayed at Castello di Volpaia for our honeymoon, and it was fantastic. The room was very modern and updated, which can be difficult to find in Italy. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very nice and spacious. The village was beautiful and a nice place to walk around. There are quite a few good food options to choose from. We did the Volpaia wine tour, which we really enjoyed. The pool area was a perfect place to relax, and breakfast was quite good. Just to note - the winery is called Castello di Volpaia, but the accommodation / village isn't actually a castle (which we found out after arriving, though it didn't impact our stay).

Absolutely stunning location, amazing views, so peaceful & quiet. Room was immaculately clean & the bed was so comfy. Staff were lovely & friendly and we enjoyed the wine tour, immensely. Breakfast was served in a lovely building either indoors or on the terrace. Selection was varied with meats, cheeses, pastries, cakes & beautiful fresh eggs & pancetta served fresh to order. On realising my husband was 'Gluten Free' the lovely lady had organised a superb homemade chocolate treat for him. There is a fabulous cafe, food is excellent & reasonable. We ate at the Osteria restaurant one evening where we received excellent, friendly service & beautifully prepared food including fresh, homemade bread, delicious!! Thank you for a wonderful stay, we would highly recommend!
