The Beach Residence

Very special place with breathtaking views! Plenty of room and away from all the noise of Chaweng or Fisherman‘s Village. The host (Phil) is exceptional - very attentive and providing great recommendations for food or trips.

The residence is a bit remote, but no problem to get to with a scooter, rental car (we had one for our entire stay on the island to be able to explore) or by taxi.

Spacious and clean. The view over the beach was beautiful and it was easy to just sit there and watch the world go by. The pool was great, nice and clean and well maintained. There are enough kitchen gadgets to get a meal prepared, but nearby restaurants are good value for money. The reggae bar was great.

If you have bad knees, heavy bags or just generally unfit, the 67 steps to the unit became a chore, especially after a long day out. You can stop and rest just over half way up at the pool, but if you have a problem with stairs this is not the unit for you. In saying that though, once you get to the unit, the view makes it worthwhile. Also, it is a very difficult unit to find. The house numbering system in Thailand gets me confused every time. We used a Grab taxi to get there and he dropped us off about a km from the unit as he had no idea where it was. Luckily the guys at the Reggae bar pointed us in the right direction, but even then we were quite a way from the unit, and of course it was all uphill. If you don’t have a car, it would be expensive to get anywhere as it’s not close enough to much. The goat track to the beach is useable but take a torch or do it during the day. That is a steep walk also, and then another 67 steps.

Het uitzicht en de bedden. De eigenaar Phil is een hele vriendelijke vent. Het strand bij Thongson Bay is maar een paar minuten kopen. Fijn rustig strand met een prima Thais restaurant

Op de foto's ziet het er mooier uit dan het in werkelijkheid is. Diverse zaken (badkamer, sloten kapot, ligbedden zwembad) kunnen een opknapbeurt gebruiken. Het is niet goedkoop voor Thaise begrippen, dan verwacht je ook wat... Zeker omdat er ook geen ontbijt en schoonmaak bij zit.
