The hotel was well kept and presented throughout. The communal areas were stunning and the rooms well appointed. Every member of staff we saw were friendly and professional.

We chose this hotel specifically because it had a pool. My husband was going to the football and I wanted to swim. We were therefore very annoyed when we found out we had to pay another £50 to use the pool. This was not explained on the Hotels.com website

Good service at check gave the impression that a delightful stay was in store. However, this quickly changed. We took our luggage to the room and got ready for the afternoon tea we had booked in the botanic tea room. The room was adequate and while the building has character and charm, it doesn’t blow you away or make you feel special. Afternoon tea was booked for 1:15pm and we were welcomed at sat down on time. We ordered the champagne and a cup of tea each and then waited more than 40 minutes for the first course. During this time, 3 other tables who sat down after us were served their first courses. When we eventually received our first course, no apology was offered. While the food was good and the rest of the meal served appropriately, the start made the experience un-enjoyable. Later in the day, we also had dinner booked at the hotel’s main restaurant, named Seaforth. After taking our order, the waitress promptly returned to our table to inform us that one of the meals was not available after changing our order and eating dinner we were also told one of the desserts was not available too. Very strange for what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. When checking out the following day, I made the above complaints known to the hotel staff. I was assured someone would look into both situations and contact me before the end of the day. That was two days ago and I’ve still not heard anything. I remain hopeful that one day soon, someone wi contact me about my experience

The food is not what you’d expect from a 5 star hotel

Clean room, friendly staff, amazing setting and location!

Deluxe bedroom was comfortable, but fairly small with hardly enough space to walk around the bed. The bar, restaurant area is pretty spectacular. The biggest gripe I have is the hotel expects their guests to pay £50 (yes Fifty pounds !) to use the poool and sauna !! This is totally over the top ! I told the receptionist that I wouldn’t mind paying a supplement e.g. about £10, but to try to charge their paying hotel guests £50 to use the pool and sauna for about 30 minutes is absolutely crazy !

This hotel is fantastic, superb service and facilities, very accommodating staff, excellent bar and perfectly located to explore Liverpool. Sicilian street food place across the street a big plus for me.

The wait for check-in was nearly 30 mins in a very hot reception area. The room key didn’t work when I got to the room and had to come back down to reception ( this happened again throughout visit). The room was not a 5 star experience. To be honest it looks tired and there was dust in the room. However, the bar was very nice and the staff were friendly

Everything! Beautiful Xmas decorations, great staff (especially Debbie in dining room) quiet, comfortable bed, I could go on and on!

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. All the staff, front desk, concierge, bar, and restaurant staff and housekeeping, were all friendly, pleasant and helpful. Nothing was ever too much.

All fine except the gluten free toast was a disaster

Beautiful room, super, super friendly Alice on reception checked us in, and then walked us to our room and came in the room with us?!?! Stunning building very centrally located.

Arrived at 12 and told to come back at 3pm for the room key. Came back at agreed time but actually didn't get the key until 430pm. Room was ok, however loud noise coming from air vents ( wasn't air con). No conditioner in bathroom ( was empty). Coat hanger left from previous guest. Stain on bedding , Tile in bathroom had been replaced or repaired but grouting finish was messy. Tried calling from room service but no answer, Tried calling reception and again no answer.

Staff were nice. Hotel was well maintained. Too busy in the evening to get a drink so had to go elsewhere. Breakfast wasn’t as nice as we’d hoped.
