FLH Tavira Central Town House with Terrace & Rooftop

Super house with excellent decor. Spacious with very comfortable bed. Great outside sitting areas and good location.

Shame lack of certain items e.g. only one bin bag, one tea towel , one toilet roll pp. inadequate for 6 nights. Had to purchase some items.

Location was excellent,plenty of space for 3 people, nicely furnished

Outside space could have done with a proper sweep and clean before our arrival

We recently stayed in this rental apartment in Tavira that had a lot of potential. The location was excellent - close to the centre within walking distance of the river, lots of restaurants, the ferry, the castle, the fabulous mercado for fresh veg and fruit and fish/meats aplenty, the shopping centre and the many great gift and clothing shops in Tavira’s traditional town centre. It was also just a very short walk to a great supermarket and refuse facilities. It was also peaceful, and very safe, offering a nice escape from the busier areas when we wanted a bit of downtime. The apartment itself was comfortable, and looked very clean, with good-sized bedrooms and comfortable beds that made for restful nights, good air conditioning, satellite tv, lots of hot water and good showers (although the upstairs shower facilities could do with a bit of a facelift). The kitchen facilities were also a strong point, and allowed the preparing of meals with ease. Beware the 'hidden drawers' containing cutlery etc - it was a bit of a test to locate them (note, there are 2) but it gave a great sense of achievement when we finally did! We appreciated the downstairs small outdoor terrace and small sitting area outside bedroom two.

While the apartment had many positive features, we were disappointed with the lack of effort from the rental company in preparing the place to feel like home. We found ourselves every evening and morning dealing with living and dying cockroaches during our stay, which was unexpected and made our time less enjoyable. Unfortunately, the rooftop terrace, which we had been looking forward to as a key feature of the property ( and the reason we booked it), was unusable due to obvious rodent droppings and a strong smell of urine on the seating up there. It would have been a lovely spot to relax on. Despite our reporting this, the rental company did not respond to our concerns on the roof/rodent issue, detracting from the overall experience. They did send someone to spray the apartment for cockroaches - after some encouragement from ourselves, but we had already bought and re-treated the space ourselves also, so we were also living with chemicals. None of this made a huge difference to the problem, and the rental company blamed issues outside the apartment as the cause. Communication with the rental company was lacking, the main email address is for the Lisbon office who didn't pass things on the their Algarve colleagues who we had to contact separately, and it seemed they were not committed to being proactive in addressing these issues. In summary, this apartment has great potential, it is very well-positioned and its interior is comfortable and well-equipped. But could benefit from better management and attention to detail regarding cleanliness and pest control. If these issues were resolved, it could truly be a wonderful (and good value) place to stay.”
