The made-to order breakfast in the cafe was very nice. The people there were very nice and attentive.

The rooms could use drawers to put away clothes. The modernist bathroom was not very functional. Having a glass door to the toilet just make it seem you're sitting in a lit up terrarium and provides no privacy. The floor of the shower tilts toward and door and away from the drain, so it ends up flooding the bathroom because the shower floor fills with water and overflow.

Stylish hotel decor, helpful and polite staff, good location, lovely little breakfast restaurant with an honestly bar system, freshly cooked breakfasts to order. Good soundproofing in room. Comfortable beds and good quality linens / pillows, useful kitchenette and good hot water pressure.

Honestly, the aspects we didn't like were not the fault of the staff. Rather it was the design and lighting of the individual rooms. Definitely a case of "form over function".. The room looked fabulous, until you had to use it. Bathroom way too dark, shower that didn't drain due to the slope of the floor, tinted glass mirrors made shaving or applying make-up near impossible. And the glass door on the toilet? Just plain weird. No idea if all rooms are decorated in the same way.

Hotel has been refurbished to a high standard. The decor is very tastefully done. Amenities including a mini kitchen in the room a real bonus. The location is excellent for exploring the main tourist areas. There are many bars and restaurants within a five minute walk. Breakfast was included and cooked to order each morning in the basement bar/restaurant and very tasty. All the staff we dealt with during our stay were very professional and really friendly.

We were in a front facing room third floor which did suffer from some road noise in the early hours. The street is one way and is cobbled like many in Porto. This creates additional tyre noise.

Room was spacious, well presented and clean. Breakfast was excellent. On the positive side, breakfast was excellent, and the manager we spoke with at checkout was understanding and explained they’d only recently taken over the property, which might explain some of the teething issues. Overall, there were good points, but too many practical and service issues for us to consider staying again.

We were really looking forward to our stay, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations. Our room wasn’t ready at 3 p.m., which was a minor delay but still frustrating given that check-in is already quite late. The welcome at reception also felt a bit unprofessional and not especially friendly. The young man was very dour. On the plus side, the room was spacious, spotless, and decorated to a high standard. However, it was quite dark, and the bathroom design seemed more focused on style than practicality — there was no proper light near the mirror, which made it difficult for my wife to get ready. Staff tried to help with a stick-on light, but it didn’t work for long. Apparently this is the case in all rooms. The glass toilet door and the see-through sliding shower screen from the bedroom were also odd choices. Our room safe didn’t work and wasn’t bolted down. Reception, strangely, said they already knew about the issue and brought a replacement, but it was also unsecured. We were told it would be fixed “in a week or two,” which didn’t help much during our stay. Housekeeping was another disappointment — our room wasn’t serviced on the first day, and the explanation we were given didn’t make sense, especially since we hadn’t left the “Do Not Disturb” instruction visible. The manager handled this complaint extremely badly. She said she understood our point - but no offer to clean the room was forthcoming.
