About this house rental
Have you always wanted to sleep in a pigsty? Here’s your chance! In a rather comfortable one, though. Built in 1896 and designated a historic landmark, this farmhouse offers a unique living experience in its former barn—135 square meters of space for up to 4 people.
The floor plan of the original barn has been preserved with only minor changes. The pigsty has been transformed into a bedroom, and the former barn area into a comfortable living room. Step out through the glass barn door onto the terrace. A seating area by the open natural canal is just as inviting as the one by the pond where goldfish swim. Incidentally, the barn apartment is wheelchair-accessible, as the first floor is completely barrier-free.
The immediate surroundings can be described in a few words: they consist of a tranquil village with about 200 residents. If you’re looking for action or expecting lively beach parties, you’ve come to the wrong place. For those looking to book some peace and relaxation, there’s no better place. Here, you can unwind and let your mind and legs rest. You can also plan long bike rides and kayaking trips. The East Frisian landscape around the Großes Meer offers pure relaxation. But just 5–10 km away, civilization awaits with a supermarket and other amenities.
Where there’s an “Achterhuus,” there’s naturally also a “Vorderhuus”—the former living quarters of the farming family. We’ve also restored that part of the house to serve as the other half of the vacation home.
The region is ideal for anglers. There are countless lakes and canals. The region is also fantastic for horseback riders. Surfers and sailors get their money’s worth on the Großes Meer, East Frisia’s largest inland body of water—because the North Sea winds blow here, too.
