Ultimate Constable Country rural retreat - The Pump House

The property is really quirky and a great place to stay. The area is great for walking, with paths directly from the property. There was a lot of information at the property for surrounding areas, history and suggested walks etc. The bed was really comfy. Bedding, towels, floor and all surfaces were clean. Wifi was reliable and phone signal was good. Hot water is almost instant. Underfloor heating was surprisingly adequate at heating given the height of the ceilings. Loved the design of the large roller blind! Oven was better than my one at home.

One of reasons for booking this particular property was the garden but unfortunately the grass was so long it wasn't useable and made it hard to pick up after the dogs. There were no tools for the fire, no poker, tongs or even a heat proof glove and nothing to empty the ash with or metal bucket, in my view, a hazard. Logs provided were a bit stingy. The glazing is beautiful but was very dirty, clearly a while since a proper clean. Anything above counter height was rather cobwebbed, but do understand they are hard to reach areas. A kitchen radio and usb socket or two, would be good additions, was pure luck that we had a usb plug with us for charging devices.

welcome basket excellent. setting was idyllic with all day birdsong. conservatory and deck for all weathers. the best visitor information i've ever seen - loved the info about all the nearby pubs but unfortunately we didn't get around all them. so many nearby cute towns with wonderful histories. loved the footpaths and local walks - the laminated guides are so handy! - will have to come back and do some more of these great walks. loved the history of the house and its industrial makeover. house very functional and comfortable

-- duvet too thick and hot - would have liked a sheet and maybe thin blanket - house temperatures were lovely and warm but too hot for sleeping! - would have liked more tv channels, particularly sport. we don't do streaming. - couldn't find any info about how to dispose of kitchen food scraps (English recycling systems different from NZ ones)
