Railway House York, City Centre York - Free Parking

Second time we've stayed at the railway house, platform 3 instead of platform 1 this time. Apartment was fantastic, everything we needed was at hand, beds where very comfy. Still an amazing place to stay and the location is perfect for either walking into york about 25 mins or down to the racecourse and not having to worry about parking helps too due to its closeness to everything.

Lovely place to stay and great distance for the racecourse and walking in to York. Rooms were beautiful and integrated well into the history of the property. You get a real good feeling of what the building used to be. All mod-cons are present and presented lovely and cleanly for a comfortable, pleasant stay.

Our "security deposit" had not gone through via the website we were redirected too some weeks ago, we did not get a reminder until we had already started driving on the day. This needs to be raised at least one week, or minimum day before the trip I feel, not on the day. As it was not, my Wife and I arrived to a locked gate and no way to get in. On reaching for my phone I saw a message stating we could not have access until it had been paid! Panic!!! It took just over an hour to raise the owner via booking.com, the WhatsApp given did not seem to get as quick a response as going through booking.com for some reason. Eventually i got a new link and paid the payment, but this meant we did not get access to the site until after our arrival time. As it is a gated property I had to do all this parked round the corner at a building site. Not a great start to the trip but once we got in all was perfect, so my advice to EVERYONE is please ensure your security deposit goes through DESPITE booking.com receipts saying all paid, as the security deposit is only payable via a non-booking.com website. if not contact the owners ahead of travel for confirmation as it is not obvious if th transaction has failed.

The location was perfect, loved the railway theme, nicely decorated and well equipped.

It could have been cleaner, there was dust and dirt under the bed, the table and the sofa. The corners were dusty and the shower could have been cleaner. The shower leaked all over the floor, so the only shower mat was continually soaked.
