About this villa rental
Villa Rosa overlooks the Saronic Gulf and the friendliest Greek fishing village of Epidavros. Only 1.30hr from Athens, it has views to die for and is at the heart of Ancient Greece, in the Peloponnese. It has four double/twin en-suite bedrooms and can sleep up to ten. The sea and beach are 300m in front of the villa, together with three bars, restaurants and a mini-market. We have our own 14,000-seat amphitheatre, where every weekend during the summer there is a different, sold-out theatre production. The village with shops, renowned restaurants and ancient sites (amphitheatre, sunken Roman villa etc) is a five-minute drive away or a 25-minute stroll along the beach. The villa has two fully equipped kitchens, with facilities for up to ten. Air-con throughout, huge outdoor garden - overlooking the sea, complete with dining facilities. Car parking space for 3 cars. Epidavros is a Greek locals place - full of wonderful tavernas, but we are also close to major tourist sites and attractions such as the islands of Poros, Hydra and Spetses, Epidavros Amphitheatre, Mycenae - the start of civilisation in Europe and Nafplio - the beautiful first capital of Greece. Villa Rosa is owned by a British/Greek couple who have been featured on the TV show 'A New Life in the Sun' - with their cycling and outdoor retreat that they run from Villa Rosa in the Spring and Autumn months.
Villa Rosa is a sustainable holiday villa, with solar panel hot water & heating. We decided not to build a swimming pool as the sea, a 5-minute walk in front of the villa is non-tidal and is the calmest, perfect natural swimming pool. We have an outdoor shower for cleaning and cooling down on return. We charge less than equal villas that have a pool.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Villa Rosa, it had something for all ages. We enjoyed walking to the local beach and bathing/playing in the crystal clear waters. The teenagers enjoyed snorkelling at the sunken city nearby and playing basketball/football near Epidavros harbour in the evenings. The highlight for me was a performance of The Trojan Women by Euripides at the big Epidavros theatre about 30 minutes drive away - a real treat, it even had projected subtitles! We did need the car to visit the harbour side sports and restaurants in the evenings and my elderly father needed a lift to & from beach - parking was fine. He would have been happy staying home as the views from the villa are gorgeous - on all levels, including downstairs. Chris was a great host always on hand and the villa was extremely well supplied including beach equipment and chairs - which were good for my parents. It is a beautiful, characterful, spacious villa and the local area is very special - we loved the harbour - I ran there and back in the mornings along the beach and an access road which was a safe route on foot, it could be walked too, via the little theatre (where they sometimes show films) but it would probably take about 45 minutes to get there. The beach is only a 5 min walk though, although a bit longer uphill on the way back. This is a great place for active families who like to get to explore! A trip to Nafplion and it’s beaches is definitely worth it! Probably Mycenae too…
