The house inside was immaculate and was very cozy for our family of 4 including our small dog. The kitchen was nicely stocked with the exception of a large mixing bowl. The bedrooms were on the smaller side, but the beds were super comfy. There were several soft or weak areas in the hallway flooring. The property manager was contacted with an immediate response. Throughout the stay though, the flooring in front of the cold air return vent began to crack.The property is located on the bay with a short walk to the ocean. During low tide, the water is very shallow in front of the house but was deep enough to launch our kayaks. The neighborhood was very peaceful and clean. The area under the house had a nice setup with crabbing equipment, paddle boards, kayaks, cleaning table, shower, etc; however, the ceiling is very low. If you are taller than 5’8, you have to duck in order to walk under the house. Needless to say, our mid-sized suv would not fit under the house. There was some trash lying around the edges of the concrete pad underneath the house. There was only one outside door to the home which was concerning to me in case of an emergency. Overall, it was an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

We had a great time during our stay! Very easy to find, close enough to all of gulf shore’s amenities but far enough away to provide peace and quiet. House was very clean and it faces west so beautiful sunsets every night. Beach is an easy walk and was never too busy. Wildlife was great as well, saw dolphins multiple times!

Pros: The house itself is very well kept. It’s one of the older ones in the area judging from the size and style, so for it to be in such good shape means a lot has been put into taking care of it. It was a bit of a tight squeeze for two adults and two teens, but true to the description provided. The kitchen had what we needed (except a wine key or bottle opener!). The yard was well kept, which was good for our pups.... But the yard is full of burs that hurt their feet and got stuck in their fur (typical for the area though). The dock and the kayaks were the best parts. Saw a lot of mullet jumping amongst the oyster nursery. From the dock we caught a lot of small catfish (a ton of hardheads, one teeny gafftop), croaker, pinfish, and a few spots. Nothing big. And definitely recommend taking the kayaks over the Bon Secour!Gulf beach access is a quarter mile (hot in August!) walk. We were fortunate with some very calm surf and clear water. Lots of fish to swim amongst. Cons: The vacation was nearly ruined by the construction of two very large houses going in on the lot to the north. They are squeezed in right next to this house. Feet away. Hearing hammering and sawing all day was absolutely awful. Couldn’t relax. Couldn’t nap. What made it worse was the classic rock radio the workers had blaring the whole time. Couldn’t enjoy sitting on the deck overlooking the water starting from 7 in the morning. That greatly knocks my rating. It was not a peaceful vacation. This house should not be rented until the construction is done. And there will be neighbors in very close contact after that.
