YOUR HILO HOMEBASE - Lovely 3 Bedroom in Heart of Hilo with AC!

The house was very nice and I liked the fact that there was a full kitchen.

I hated the shower. You could barely move to scrub yourself. I went to my apartment to shower daily... VERY BAD!!! It also said the master bedroom had a king size bed but it was only a queen size. That was disappointing also....

Lovely, large, comfy, clean house with all the amenities you need. Conveniently located to everything in Hilo and a short walk to Kandi's drive in and the convenience store. Really enjoyed our stay here!

Street noise was loud at times but didn't affect our stay.

Super easy check-in process and great communication from hosts. House accurately described and clean upon arrival. Beds were comfortable and the house provides plenty of space. Good location for exploring Hilo and the island if you have a car available.

Unfortunately, the problem here, for us at least, was the street noise--and I am not talking about normal urban street noise that one would encounter in NYC or any other urban area, it's the use of engine braking by large trucks on the road--which isn't a very big road!--just outside the house. All night long we, including our kids, were woken up by the sound of engines from that road. It was maddening and resulted in very little sleep and unfortunately I don't think there's a lot the hosts can do unless they manage to get engine braking banned from this area--which it should be! We only ended up staying the first of three nights. If you are a very heavy sleeper--you probably won't have a problem, but if you're not then consider yourself warned.
