The Smithy Cottage

Smithy Cottage is an absolute gem. We’ve just returned from a weekend break and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. The cottage is ideally situated in the centre of Chilham and was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and full of character. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the secure enclosed courtyard was perfect for our dogs. The owner was welcoming and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. Combined with the charm of the local area, it made for a truly memorable stay. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Nothing

Everything! Location, exceptionally well decorated and maintained, easy parking, pub across the small square, quiet and peaceful

Nothing

Very friendly host, clean, historic building with modern comfort, excellent location in the heart of Chilham, train station within walking distance (Canterbury, London), dog-friendly. Car parking was no problem on the square close the house. We really had a great time, felt at home and enjoyed every moment in the beautiful garden or in the cosy sitting room. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are really comfortable and the extra toilet is convenient. We also enjoyed the local pubs.

Superb location, very comfortable, clean and homely

We stayed with our dogs and some form of stair gate/ something to block the stairs would have been useful… it didn’t matter too much as we used a couple of chairs which stopped our big dog attempting them and the smaller slept in his crate
