We loved the location.
the upstairs layout is very homely
Nice large family size kitchen
We seemed to be struck with a bit of bad timing with our stay resulting in these negatives.
A roof tile falling from the roof missing our car by inches.
On arrival the door mat was soaked with dog urine
We lifted this outside and just thought maybe the cleaner had missed this with it being the mat you wipe your feet on.
My 12 year old daughter was staying in the room with the bunk beds after the 1st night she noticed a smell that was progressively getting worse after the second night it was so strong it could be smelt when walking past the room so we removed all of our things out. The mattress had been flipped (bedding and topper was all dry )
But the mattress which was soaking still even on our 2nd night had been dripping into the wood. Whoever staying in here just before us had obvisoly flipped this to try and hide an accident. The cleaners again have not noticed this. I was quite disgusted to think my daughter had been sleeping on top of someone else’s urine!
The smell by the time we checked out was absolutely terrible! Our last night was not fun as my daughters were crammed in our room on an air bed that we had to purchase.
We called the host about this - he was very friendly and I’m sure he would have helped had it not been New Year’s Day there was nothing to be done but I do think this could have been avoided had the cleaners been more thorough.

The indoor log burner at Xmas
The layout that is the only niggle but didn’t affect our very happy stay

Spacious and central to town
Master bedroom bed soo uncomfortable. Traffic outside constantly noisy. No welcome pack of basics to start your stay so had to go straight to shop for milk etc

We were really looking forward to our stay, but unfortunately the property did not meet expectations.
The house did not feel or smell clean on arrival, with a damp and musty odour throughout. We found rubbish under the bunk bed, and even a pair of pants and a T-shirt left behind the hot tub. The carpet was grubby, and the upstairs bedroom door handle came off in our hands. The showers had very low water pressure and there were black long hairs inside, which made them unpleasant to use.
Some advertised amenities were missing, there was no hairdryer or toiletries, despite these being listed, and we didn’t receive a response when we enquired. The biscuits left out were a nice idea but were out of date. On arrival, the outdoor cushions were left wet outside, despite being asked to put them away after use.
I messaged the host after we left to share our disappointed, they responded and said they would speak to the cleaners and come back to us. That was weeks ago and we’ve still not heard.
Overall, these issues made the stay disappointing and not up to the standard we expected based on the listing.

We had a few minor issues which were quickly rectified. We would recommend this cottage to anyone staying in Penrith. It is in an excellent location for Penrith or to visit the Lake District.
The only thing that was worrying is access to parking as you are on a busy street. This didn't affect the stay though.

The convenience and location of this property with secure off street parking was ideal for our motorcycle trip to Cumbria and Yorkshire. It appeared well appointed with entertainment for all ages although this was not availed off by us.

Location was great, games (pool, Pac-Man & darts) were wonderful additions & hottub was perfect, though slight worry people could easily see in through their high windows which isn’t ideal as a hijabi, but luckily only got in at night when most were asleep or curtains closed. & the CCTV outdoor light flickering on and off was slightly annoying but minor. A lot of traffic noise if windows open at night but again, wasn’t an issue as the sleep was wonderful after some time in the hot tub.
Bigger pans to cook with, hard to cook meals for multiple adults

Excellent location. Our Grandson was competing at Penrith Leisure Centre so was only a tiny walk away from the Quirky Cottage. Everything we needed in fact was just about on the door step

Great location. Parking was a bit of an effort but understandable for such a great location.
Hot tub area wasn’t that inviting. Benches were stained. No washing machine or dishwasher, oven gloves etc… small things but still slightly frustrating. Property could do with some TLC

Clean, right in the town centre and the property had everything we needed and more!
The only thing the lads complained about was the beds they said they could feel the mattress springs. Perhaps you could get some mattress toppers or new mattresses? This was the bunk beds so I’m assuming they would have been ok for children?

Last minute booking and fell on a lovely home. Central location with great access to supermarkets and shops. Easy access to surrounding areas for walks etc.
It was very clean and had all the things we required, The kitchen cupboard was well stocked with crockery. Had plenty of blankets which were handy and TVs in most rooms. Good little hot tub area and outdoor seating.
The games room with darts, a small pool table and karaoke machine was a bonus. We had a small issue with the boiler which was sorted in 30 minutes (great communication from the owner). Lovely to have a bathroom on both floors and a great sized bath upstairs.
Gated garden/hot tub area, there is a cafe/wine bar nextdoor but this created no issues (really nice drinks).
WiFi dropped occasionally over the weekend but nothing major. The mattress in the downstairs bedroom may need replacing soon as springs could be felt. A key for the games room external door could be handy for easier access to the hot tub but again only a minor issue.

Cottage was perfect, apart from not being able to get Netflix on in the living room, got it the bedroom so wasn't to bad, could of done with a brush and shovel there and a mop that wasn't broken, but we enjoyed the hot tub and the games room, couldn't do much because of the rain all weekend,
Letting me know the check in/out times just the day before, I had already arranged for pick up and had to change it last minute.

it was clean and spacious, I had my dog with me and he was secure to run in outdoor area and games room.
there was nothing we didn’t like.

the games room was a good bonus
the property is on a busy road so you would need to reverse out onto a busy road, the hot tub looks private, however when you’re getting in and out of it, it’s possible to make eye contact with people enjoying their drink in the wine bar next door. There is also a camera that looks like it points towards the hot tub, it says it’s for the side gate..the side gate is right next to the hot tub. In the pictures it shows multiple towels available to you on the bed, however you only get one towel per person. So if you don’t want to have the same towel for hot tub water and shower water, I’d recommend bringing your own.
In the guest book, every single review I saw, mentioned about meeting the host and some even mentioned a welcome pack. For my stay personally, I saw none of that, not even a hello from the host or a goodbye. I thought that was strange considering what I have experienced in the past with different hosts.
