Despite having a confirmed booking weeks in advance for 6 people, upon arrival after a long drive to Bergamo we were informed that Hotel Post could accommodate only 3 guests.
The hotel never contacted us beforehand to warn about any issue with our reservation.
This left us stressed and frustrated, forced to search for alternative accommodation late in the afternoon just to have a place to sleep.
This situation was completely unacceptable and shows a serious lack of professionalism and basic guest care.
I strongly advise avoiding this place.

Four things matter to me, a comfortable bed, to keep warm, value for money, and the friendliness of staff. As such, this property exceeded all my expectations and whimsical "wants." I don't expect to be waited on and treated like royalty. I would rather sleep under the stars in the desert or in a tree house in the jungle than a 7 star hotel.
This hotel was less than half the price of the hotels nearer the city centre, and transport links into the city were not an issue with a regular bus service. The hotel looked dated, but this was part of its timeless charm, more of a family run "casa". than an actual hotel. The staff were amazing, Marguarita couldn't do enough for us, personally taking us back to the airport, not wanting to take any money, and giving us a gift on departure. Meanwhile, Franco, one of her staff, drove us into the city to the funicular railway station, which climbed up to the old town, which is well worth seeing. There is a big supermarket adjacent to the hotel, which opens till late, together with a good-sized carpark if arriving by car. I rarely go back to places, I will come back here because Marguarita was like family, also speaking very good English, and I believe French too.
There was some traffic noise, but so what.

Good location, close to airport. The owner is super nice and friendly, speaks English well. Free car parking. The room balcony was huge! The super market is in 1 min ahead.
In a room smells smoking savour.

Nothing! It is not so close to the city center, but close to the airport and big supermarket:)

I think Bergamo is a place most tourists visit in transition to another destination. Hotels around the airport are extremely expensive and so I understand the option for a budget hotel for one night. You get what you pay for. I agree with the comments here, that the Post Hotel is very rundown. It is more realistic to call the "bathroom" a wet room. It dried surprisingly very quickly though, and there was always hot water. The landlady, Margarite , is very kind and speaks French and English well. There is a supermarket a stone's throw away and the hotel is easily accessible by public transport. The profile on booking.com boasts airport transfer, but this is misleading and should be scrapped.
Some of the towels and bedding were threadbare.

I recommend this place wholeheartedly. The owner welcomed us very kindly. Easy access to the centre, close to shops. We got a parting gift but we couldn't take it because we didn't have room in our luggage and we are sorry for that. We hope that you were not sorry.

Owner is sweet elderly friendly lady, very helpful and accommodating.
Supermarket right next door.
Rooms well kept and clean.
Wifi ok. Doors lock and security.
Clean bathroom and towels.
Sweet looking room.
7 stops from bergamo train station which is one stop from BGY airport.
Shuttle is listed for hotel, but it's really a taxi service which serves them and is 25 EU in either direction from BGY, so I'm not sure how that should be listed or allowed to be listed. To me it was misleading so I took the bus one way to save.
The outside really looked old, decrepit, falling apart, and I had my reservations until I went inside, met the owner and saw the rooms.
The directions were confusing from the train station, and I ended up on the bus in the opposite direction until someone helped me.

clean and comfortable room, with free secured parking. Very close to the airport. Excellent choice if you want just a place to drop off before an early morning or late evening flight.

Very friendly staff, clean room with clean bed laundry, big terrace.
No reception before 3pm, you have to call an Italian phone number so that someone comes and opens the door (roaming rates may apply). Not so good location, far from the city center only reachable with a bus that doesn't operate after 21:30 :-( . If you need a cab to the airport book it yourself online, if you ask the lady in the hotel she will call a friend who will charge you the regular taxi fee (25 EUR) but it's not an actual taxi, so you have to pay in cash only, no receipt, nothing. No possibility of breakfast and no cafeterias in the area.

The staff was super friendly and welcoming! They let us pick our room and gave us a present even.
The curtains in the window were so thin that the room was bright at night from nearby lights. It was also loud due to traffic.

This hôtel is insalubrious

The bed was comfy and room was spacious
It didn’t feel overly secure as the door to the building was always unlocked. Also quite noisy as there is a busy road outside.

very very kind lady at the reception, it was very nice staying, my recommendations.

The lady from reception was friendly, it was very nice that we received small gifts from her.
When we went for a walk in the city, we were informed that until 00:00 we had to be at the accommodation because the gates were closing, this aspect was a bit strange.
I felt like I was in the college dorm.
Probably, the laptop at the reception needs to be replaced, it works very badly and for this reason the check-in took a long time.

Nothing
I would like to describe the terrible situation that occured for the 1st time in my life. On September 6th, approximately at 6 A.M. there was a sort of fight with loud cries. And a night receptionist (a woman at her 70-s) opened our locked door with her own key, turned on the light and asked for a phone to call the police. After that an extremely angry woman rolled in and continued to shout in Italian & beat the receptionist. My wife & me for the first minute could not believe our eyes and were not awakened enough. But when the receptionist took our cell phone and tried to call the police & an angry woman tried to throw it away in the opened window, we intervened the scene & pushed the angry woman from our room. The receptionist called the police and someone else, a little bit later that woman was arrested. I do not speak Italian, however I could understand that the receptionist took the documents as a security and did not return them for some reason. I fully understand that such situation may occur with anyone, however when the hotel staff rolls in the room where guests sleep and endanger them - that is not acceptable at all. Hopefully, our belongings were saved. But as my wife says, here is another phobia - she definetely can not feel secure even if the doors are locked. We decided to check-out 1 day before the end of stay as that hotel did not seem satisfactory at all. When we left keys for the same receptionist neither propositions of refund nor simple "thank you" were offered. Thank you, Hotel Post, for a ruined honneymoon. Definetely not recommended at all. P.S. The images of bloody fingerprints of intruner (her hands were literally & actually in blood) and receptionist's torn hair are attached.
