Hostel CafeRAZY

The location is great, right on the historical main square of Poprad (currently under extensive renovation works, but of course that is not the hostel's fault and is not a permanent problem anyway). Close to the train station. Easy check-in and check-out, the staff speak english quite well. They provided towels which was great. There is a nice café/restaurant with good food on the ground floor, we had dinner there once. The hostel provides very basic comforts but that's what we expected, we were out hiking in the Tatras all day anyway, we just needed a place to shower and sleep. There was a small common kitchen area with a kettle and a few mugs and glasses for everyone to use.

There were just a few uncomfortable things that would be very easy to fix if they took the maintenance of the rooms seriously: the lid of the dustbin fell off. The shower head holder was loose because it was missing one screw so you could not put up the shower head in it because it just fell on your head as you were showering (yes, I noticed that too late). The curtain was stuck in one place. When we checked in, the room was not thorougly cleaned: a few spiderwebs and a lot of dust on the towel-holder in the bathroom were waiting for us. The wifi didn't reach the rooms or signal was extremely weak: again, something that could easily be fixed by the hostel investing into one or two signal boosters. They didn't clean the rooms during our 3-night stay which is normal for a budget hostel, but they could have provided at least a small broom in the common area so we could'have swept up our own floor... There were several power sockets in the room but only on one side of the bed, that's not the most ideal, since we both wanted to charge our phones at night. That's it, I think, so there's nothing too wrong with the place but the small discomforts do add up, so I would only recommend this place for a short stay.

Central Poprad. Great restaurant & bar.

This was a really cool place to stay. I loved the way the 'afe' in Cafe is inside the C in their logo so you read it as C(afe)RAZY. The cafe is hustling and bustling at all times, and I loved the fact that it's open until late, making long days with sightseeing possible. Strict 14.30 check in time, but I could leave my luggage and head out. The room was clean and comfortable, and there was a kettle in the corridor. The location is within walking distance from the train and bus station, and you can also walk to the not to be missed Sobota neighborhood from here. The cafe only opens at 11 am, but there's an out of hours exit out on the back. The WiFi is good in the cafe, but not everywhere else.

The toilet in my room didn't flush properly, also I think they should warn their customers about the roadwork outside. The entire road is fenced off. I was just 20 m away on the other side of the street when I had to walk a 600 m detour with my luggage. If we KNOW, we can just navigate towards the southern end of the church straight away, when we are coming from the station.

Lokalita bola dobra. Restauracia bola prijemna. Pivko bolo dobre, jedlo takisto.

Viem, ze to bolo cenovo na nizsej urovni preto to neberte ako staznost, skor ako priestor na zlepsenie: steny medzi ubytovacimi bunkami su tenke, prepustaju zvuk z vedlajsich buniek. No a nakolko je ubytovanie lacnejsie, laka ludi z nizsich cenovych skupin. Jednou takou navstevou bol aj akysi parik, ktory sa potreboval vecer a rano hadat a natahovat, co znacne narusalo kvalitu spanku a vstavania. Viem, ze sa neda dopredu ustriehnut typ navstevnikov, no zvukova izolacia by urcite napomohla ku zvyseniu pohodlia navstevnikov. Kupelna by tiez potrebovala sprijemnit vizual. Inak to bolo adekvatne k cene.
