The staff on reception took a while to acknowledge you on check in and check out. Our breakfast didnt arrive in the room. Everything felt rushed.

Great property, tastefully modernised. Main bar area a grand space.
Our room was modern though perhaps a little smaller than expected.
All staff top-notch.

Location, staff, food and was made to feel like a king. Loved how the towels got replenished when we were out.
The cheap ironing board. The cheap slippers. The price of 2 bottled Peroni’s the got served at the bar and was £1.30 service charge for opening it up.

great rooms, decor, bathroom very nice.
you could probably do more on what you offer in the rooms when it comes to drinks etc quite basic.
5.0 / 10.0
The bar area looks lovely, however the rooms are not 5 star imo. Very small and basic
however every time you order a round of drinks they add a tip which is not advertised. This is not for table service. We ordered our drinks at the bar, and the rounds were sometimes £60-£80 so they were adding £10 on tips every time we ordered a round.

Love this hotel, great location, amazing spa , staff are super friendly, palm court spectacular.
Food was disappointing during the last two visits, we were served a BLT which was awful, cheap white half toasted bread, soggy bacon and no sign of the egg , breakfast was ok but luke warm.

While the hotel itself is impressive and well maintained, the front-of-house experience on arrival significantly affected my overall impression of the stay.
We arrived early and simply wanted to ask if it was possible to leave our luggage, not check in. However, I wasn’t really given the chance to explain this before being asked for booking details. When I tried to clarify that we only needed to drop our bags, I was told that I could ask questions “after this is finished,” which came across as dismissive and uncomfortable.
Our luggage was eventually taken and stored, but despite this, the interaction did not end there. We were still asked to sit in the bar or lounge area without any clear explanation, turning what should have been a one- or two-minute request into an unnecessary 15–20 minute wait. After this time, we decided to leave and explained that we understood she was busy. We were polite and accommodating throughout, but the interaction still felt strained and lacking in patience.
Later, when offered two room options, I asked which one would be recommended and was told to “just pick one,” which felt unhelpful. While checking the booking details, there was also a comment along the lines of “oh, you’ve got one of those rooms.” This may not have been intended negatively, but the tone felt surprising and slightly judgemental and added to the awkwardness of the interaction.
I also found the route to the room inconsistent in terms of comfort. Certain connecting corridors or passageways were noticeably cold, close to outside temperature, before returning to warmer areas. The sudden temperature drops created a slightly jarring experience, which felt out of place for a hotel positioning itself at a five-star level.
I work in hospitality management myself, so I’m particularly aware of how much tone, clarity, comfort, and first impressions matter.

Amazing building. Lovely interior. Bar area was fantastic
Wasn’t the cleanest. Room had an earring on the floor so questioned if it had been hoovered. Also, bathroom had a bit of a funny smell. Trays and glasses left outside other rooms and weren’t moved for a while

Was disappointed with a £50 charge to swim! We’ve been all over the world in five stars & always have free or max £10 to use the facilities as a guest.

The hotel is a beautiful building in a great location.
I don’t think the hotel should allow people with children in the bar after 9. I don’t think children should be allowed to roam around the hotel without supervision. More staff on the bar area to be able to serve people and keep the area clean.

Location to town was excellent and discounted parking available just around the corner which is a bonus .
The bedroom was just too hot and no option to open any windows to allow any fresh air which resulted in broken sleep sadly .

The decor was superb along with the room facilities and the staff were extremely attentive and helpful. The location is great for the city centre restaurants and shops. There was plenty of choice on the breakfast menu.
We felt the room was small with only one chair though if there were two there would be no place to put them. A rowel rail in the backroom would have been helpful. The heated one was too high for me to reach. Visiting the spa was expensive.

Had some issues with the Car Park ticket validated by the Hotel upon leaving the Car park

The building is absolutely stunning, the bar and restaurant area in particular really have the ‘wow’ factor. All of the staff we encountered were incredibly friendly and helpful. Beds were comfy and the food was incredible.
Nothing major but a couple of things didn’t work - one of the lifts, the phone in the room and one of the bedside lamps.

Perfect location, very friendly staff, fabulous bar. Wonderful architecture
Rooms are quite small but with such high ceilings it's not really an issue

Lovely lobby and bar area, comfy bed, polite staff.
£50 for hotel guests to use the pool and sauna. Ridiculously confusing room layout which sounds pedantic, but was really annoying - the amount of people doing laps of the floors trying to find the lifts was comical. Small, underwhelming room which wasn’t cleaned properly - cans of water left on the bedside tables etc.

This stay exceeded our expectation’s, we will definitely be back as everything was perfect. The staff were incredible, from reception, to dinner to the spa staff. Have forgotten the name of the lady at the spa facility but was so kind and helpful. So so pleased, highly recommend and will be back for sure.
Loved everything

Impressive entrance and lobby decorated for Christmas. Beautiful palm court restaurant and bar. Corridors steeped in history.
We were supposed to be upgraded to a deluxe double room. However, I believe we just had a classic double room as there wasn’t a coffee machine which was listed as a facility neither were there complimentary chocolates. I also found a pair of trousers in the wardrobe that wasn’t mine, so housekeeping wasn’t perfect either.

Staff were lovely and very helpful and attentive
The beds in the deluxe room were only a double not a king which is unusual for a hotel but it was ok just for 2 nights

The spa, bar and restaurant were all beautiful and the food and cocktails were superb.
The extra fee to use the spa and the service charge at the bar even though it wasn't table service was a bit off putting.
