Once again, our Albanian host made the experience special. The roads in an ancient city like Gjirokaster are narrow and winding - terrifying to drivers from the wide flat roads of Florida. Our host actually drove our car the final half-mile, and stored it until our departure! There is no logic to the layout of Albania homes and structures other than the Balkan topography, so the amount of steps up and down to reach our rooms was strange to American sensibilities, but normal for the locals. If you're looking for something different - beautiful, quaint, historic, but definitely different - Alsara Guesthouse and Gjirokaster will not disappoint.

Amazing location with cocktail bar on the roof, I had an early bus and the owner made me an early breakfast and drove me to the bus station. It was an incredible experience
