Carlton House - Spacious 4 Bed Victorian townhouse

Location was great!

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this property, and it was nothing short of perfect. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the immaculate condition of the space — every detail was spotless and thoughtfully prepared. The decor was tasteful, the amenities were top-notch, and everything felt fresh and well-maintained. The location could not have been better — perfectly situated for easy access to local attractions, restaurants, and transport, yet still wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. It was the ideal balance of convenience and comfort. The hosts clearly take great pride in their property, and it shows in every aspect. My stay was seamless, comfortable, and far exceeded expectations. I would recommend this property without hesitation to anyone looking for an exceptional place to stay, and I can’t wait to return.

An extra car permit would have been nice but not essential.

Great location, all rooms a good size, very clean, hosts were friendly, communicative and provided fans as it was during the heatwave.

Fantastic location, easy to get right into Harrogate as well as walking to the railway station. Lots of space to hangout in and the rooms were spacious.

The kitchen was small considering it sleeps 8 people. You need to be structured with your cooking plans because of this.

Beautiful house in a fantastic location right near the train station, the bus station and the town. We were in Harrogate for the Soring Flower Show and it was a breeze to get there, walking from the house to the bus station (where there was a free shuttle bus) only took us a couple of minutes. The house was very clean and warm, beds were comfortable with good linen. Communication with the hosts was excellent, we had a problem with one of the toilets leaking and they got it sorted in no time, and left us some Prosecco and chocolates for the inconvenience. They were also very accommodating in letting us leave our cases at the property before and after our checkout times . Would stay again.

The toilet in the loft had a macerator system, which ended up leaking as a previous occupant had put wet wipes down it. Water came through the ceiling in our bedroom and leaked onto the bed. It also meant that with eight of us in the house it was difficult only having one other toilet for a while. However, the hosts did their best to sort it out as quickly as possible and communication was quick and easy.

good location, good parking, big house. Loved sitting in the living room with the family and enjoyed eating at the big table in the dining room. Near all the shops with plenty to see walking distance

the coat rack inside the doorway was in the way and broken because of being hit by the door repeatedly. Probably best to move it or get rid of it. lovely bit of furniture but not enough room for it

Our review of this property is mixed. With some TLC it could easily be improved. This is a great location, lounge had a good mix of chairs, cushions, throws. Dining room also fine for our needs. Heating good and easy to operate. Throughout the house the decoration is lovely. The beds were very comfy and great that 6 of them could be made into singles, however the main bedroom (4 poster bed) doesnt have a wardrobe even though there is ample space to site one. As 6 women and 1 man we were slightly concerned about having only 2 bathrooms but in reality this turned in to 1 usable one as the top floor toilet and shower had very low water pressure and the toilet did not flush properly so had very limited use. The kitchen wasn't the best. The drawers in the freezer cant properly open as they hit the steps into the kitchen, the oven door doesn't shut properly so things took longer to cook, and there is no dishwasher so pots for up to 8 people on holiday became quite a job. There is a 2nd fridge so this space could be changed to accommodate a dishwasher instead. There was a nice range of glasses however only 6 of something like champagne flutes so again not enough for 8 adults that wanted to celebrate together. Some attention to detail is needed for practicality of use, like a chair in front of the wardrobe, wardrobe doors in another room that wont stay closed, bedroom door that doesn't shut etc. Lastly there was no prior mention until after we had booked of a flat below the house owned by the same owner. The weather was gorgeous and we had aimed to sit outside on our first afternoon/evening (as advertised!) but there is extensive work being done on the flat downstairs and that outside area is just full of rubble, wood etc and no sign of anything to sit on. Over the weekend we were aware that some work was being done there but this was quiet, however, on the Monday morning this was exceptionally noisy and started very early, about 7.30.

We loved the location, the size of the property and the decor.

A fairly minor issue, the facilities could have been a little better. For example, the fridge doesn't have a freezer so we weren't able to have ice and there wasn't a microwave which could have been useful.

Spacious house with 4 large double bedrooms, quirky decor which suits the house perfectly. huge basement would be a fabulous addition if renovated

We had a great stay at Carlton House loads of space, and the house was decorated beautifully. The bedrooms and living rooms were so comfortable, especially the super kingsize bed !! Everything we needed was supplied luxury hand wash and room sprays were a lovely extra. The location is fabulous, literally 1 minute to the town centre which which was full of great shops,cafes and bars and there is a supermaket at the end of the street. The use of a parking permit was great, and there was loads of spaces to park. Communication with the owner was brilliant , answered all our enquiries quickly , and gave us all the info we needed beforewe got there.

We liked everything and had a lovely short break 😊

Plenty of space for all of us - beds were nice and big and comfy. Everything was nice and clean and everything we needed/ wanted was provided. Location was perfect and parking was good. Honestly can’t think of anything that we didn’t like!
