Olá Vida - Hostel Caminha

Great location for a stopover on the Camino. Clean & comfortable. Well stocked, shared kitchen was great for heating a meal.

We arrived during the checkin hours, but no staff there. Slightly complicated getting into the building as the link to checkin wasn’t working right on my phone. We had a private bathroom, but the shower is open to the entire bathroom, without any glass or curtain, and made everything rather wet. It wasn’t even dry by the next morning. I think a shower curtain would be a great addition!

I was clean, a comfortable bed and close to the Camino trail.

Communal areas (lounge, kitchen, showers/toilets) were spotless and comfortable.

The door codes to enter the sleeping room were annoying, cumbersome and sensitive. I was locked out once and fortunately another guest let me in the room. The host was a grouchy male and did not seem very hospitable. He left the building and we happened to be in the lounge when new guests arrived to a locked door. We could see them trying to get in and so went to open the door. Out of nowhere the host arrived on the street. He scolded us for opening the door and basically put the onus on us when he should have been at the desk to greet people. Not impressed by his behaviour and lack of people skills.

Location, walking short to great restaurant with pilgrim menu.Easy and short walk to be on a camino trail.

No possibility to quickly do coffee or other warm drinks.No kettle, vending machine stole my money not giving me any cold cans drinks!Not enough shower cabin and toilets for so many people.
