Arenal Dream Cottage

Excellent little cottage less than 10 min away from center of La Fortuna (uber worked well)- but away from the hustle and bustle. Better than advertised in terms of amenities provided. The bedrooms are small and there is a single bath (with towels and soap/shampoo provided). Full kitchen with induction stove, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster etc.and adequately stocked with pots, pans and plates etc. Lovely sitting area, tastefully decorated and a nice, small outdoor seating area as well. At 5am, birds wake you up gently - I could count at least a dozen unique bird sounds in a minute and see many of them on a big tree in front. A supermarket and some restaurants are less than a mile if you don’t want to do the hike to town. The mountains provide a nice backdrop and it’s nice to walk up and down the street particularly early morning. Lots of friendly dogs wandered up on our morning walk. Overall, felt pretty safe. The host is very responsive answering all my questions almost instantly.

Kitchen was equipped with pans. WiFi worked good.

The house worked well for our family of 5 (two adults and three teens). The outside space was terrific for reading, lounging, and playing cards at the end of our days out exploring. Ate our meals out, but the coffeemaker was way to use and the fridge was nice to hold our drinks and any take out containers. Location is a perfect jumping off point for all of the adventures La Fortuna has to offer!

Pet friendly and gated so that they do not run onto the street. The stray dogs appeared to be friendly. Located close to any event you might want to do. We went to the Tabacon hot springs and would advise going. Coffee and chocolate tour by Don Juan was also good, especially the store which has a great selection of all kinds of chocolates and coffee. Let it be noted. this unit does not have a hot tub as you may read in amenities. TV in the bedroom was a nice plus, some coffee and 2 beers in the refrig. "You are going to need a cocktail after the drive into La Fortuna." My husband liked the shower; however, ladies bring a shower cap as it's a rain shower head.
