Imagine being surrounded by nature away from everything but still only minutes from all the luxuries of what you need & want. Picturesque community in the heart of Portage Lakes that reminds you of what life used to be like. Quiet & enjoyable, whether your cooking out, kayaking on the lake, swimming, or relaxing with a fishing pole. This is a hunting & fishing paradise.
Need or forgot something, Acme fresh market is less than 5 minutes away with no traffic along with an array of restaurants & shops. Not to mention endless parks, biking & hiking trails. 20-25 mins will get you to The Pro Football Hall of Fame, Akron Zoo, The Science Center, Cuyahoga National Forest & Golf courses. The Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame is 40-45 mins & the No.1 Amusement Park in the World Cedar Point is just over an hour away.
What you will notice about what we are trying to do here is make everything less stressful. Like providing outdoor gas grill, kayaks with life vests for all sizes, Tiki Torches for those nights whether you need them or just want them for ambiance. We also try to surround you with plants & flowers. Binoculars to watch humming birds & owls, wood peckers and other beautiful birds. Everything nature has to offer is just a stay away. We have completely remodeled everything from Fresh paint, New furniture, wood floors, cabinets to the granite counter tops and then some. It will stay nice and (clean) for every guest that stays with us, that's our promise to you. We believe we will be your come back destination. See You Soon... P.S. People with mobility or weight issues may have trouble at our location. Also if you a complain alot & carry a negative energy. Please don't consider us. Anyone can find something wrong with anything. But nobody wants to hear or read about it.

I had an amazing weekend with my two best friends. The back patio was our favorite spot. The water, the birds, everything was amazing. I would highly recommend this place for family or friends for a weekend getaway.. communication was awesome and everything was top-notch.

We needed a place to disconnect and enjoy some downtime. This was perfect. The lake was so calm and we loved watching the birds. It was a little too chilly to take the kayaks out but I know it would have been an amazing way to see the local wildlife. The proximity to Akron made it an easy trip to see the local sites, too! Definitely worth the trip.

The property was not welcoming to pets. Owner does not want your dog to go into the water. I ended up driving mine all the way home (hour drive each way) because the owner has a newly remodeled very small home. Be aware the owner will be watching you arrive peeking out the windows next door. Not letting you know of his existence.

Clean on the inside, beautifully landscaped on the outside. Suited all of our needs for a two day get-away. Fishing off the dock and kayaking. Two clean patios that view the lake. The description should probably be two half baths, as the bathroom with the toilet is upstairs and the bathroom with the shower is downstairs. A bit inconvenient, especially for older couples, or larger groups.

Place was spic and span! Very beautiful views of the lake. Don’t go in hunting season though, the gunfire was constant for three days and scared our dog to death. Also, be aware if you have a small dog that the spiral staircase is literally a hole in the living room floor! We had to build a pillow wall to keep our dog from falling thru to the basement level. Also, the toilet is in such a small area it feels like you are in a stall at Walmart.

This beautiful cottage was perfect for our stay in Akron. So peaceful on the deck and the table by the lake. Loved mama duck and her 2 babies. Also the resident kitties. The interior of the cottage was very cute, modern and supplied with everything we needed. This rental is a jewel.

We had THE most relaxing and peaceful stay here. This is a very quiet lake with a lot of osprey, cormorants and many other birds. If you like to fish there are plenty here. We used the binoculars every single day. There is a huge grocery store five minutes away and plenty of restaurants and golf courses.

We loved this place and plan to return. It was exactly as described, very clean, host was very accommodating, located close to stores and restaurants, friendly neighbors, great fishing and the view of the lake and wildlife was outstanding! We highly recommend this place and hope to return!

My wife and I had a relaxing time at this location. It was great being right on the lake. We were able to fish and kayak from the back yard. It felt safe and secluded.The property manager was great. We had a bad storm come through overnight and lost power. He arranged for someone to come over and clean up the debris without us even asking.And if you are into wildlife, this is a great spot. We saw a bald eagle, hawks, cranes, otters and blue jays...All from the back patio.The location is only a couple minutes away from a grocery store, which was very convenient.

My husband and I stayed for a couple of days, and it’s such a beautiful setting! The house is super neat and clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay! We enjoyed sitting on the deck soaking in the peacefulness and watching the wildlife by the lake. Our host was wonderful, checking in to be sure we arrived safely (late check-in). The check-in and check out process was super easy and smooth. All in all, this was a terrific experience! Highly recommended this lovely property.

This peaceful slice of heaven we found from out of town due to a doctor's appointment we scheduled early in the area. Turned out to be an amazing day. It was 70 degrees in March, went kayaking and cooked out on the provided gas grill. Between the wildlife and the stunning view, The place was spotless and we couldn't have asked for more. Come to find out the nice older couple we met next door was in from out of town as both neighbors live out of the area. So what a gem we found. Ended up calling our host Steve who was great about this shower head they had attached to the shower that had this 15 stage filter on it that made your hair and skin feel amazing. Who knew but told my husband we have to get one of those. Wow, we didn't want to leave and will definitely visit again. Highly recommend

Traveled over the holidays with my 10 year old and grown teen boys to see family nearby. The house fit our needs perfectly.Read the reviews to get a little more insight into the place beyond the description (other than the one where someone drunkenly walked into a neighbors house). The description is accurate, the reviews, for the most part, are accurate, and when we're back in the area we will absolutely look at staying here again.The host is responsive, the neighborhood is quiet, the lake is great, and the place was exceptionally clean.Thank you for having us Steve!

Address numbers not on house was confusing. Parked in next door neighbors spot. He came out shouting with hands in air. Neighbor watches property for owner. Had to pay owner extra for our dogs which ended up being a technology error on our part. Owner was irritated and called us drunk. Told him to not send messages that weren’t true. Spiral staircase was dangerous. Downstairs was musty. Bathrooms were awkward as the toilet is upstairs and the bathroom downstairs has no toilet. Water downstairs is bad smelling and leaves disgusting odor on skin. Owner and neighbor apologized for their rude behavior on the last day and offered us two free days. We refused. Beautiful view wasn’t worth the issues we had to deal with. Not ever again!

We met friends from Columbus for the weekend. This house was within easy driving distance of the Towpath trail. We also toured Stan Hywet. The outdoor setting is beautiful. The drawback was that the only toilet is upstairs in a half bath. One of the bedrooms is downstairs. And there is a narrow metal winding staircase to go up and down

The house, and our interaction with the property owner were disappointing. We were greeted with about 30, steep, cement stairs required to access the property, this was not advertised. These stairs were not easy to navigate in the light, and were difficult carrying anything and in the dark. On the second evening of our stay, we returned to the property with our friends, and intended to have dinner, make s’mores, fish and enjoy the view. As we began to build a fire in the pit, the property owner came out of his house (on the same property), and put our fire out. He said renters weren’t permitted to use the fire pit (although it is pictured in the advertisement). He then accused us of not following the rules, and demanded that my guests leave. He did not allow me to say anything, or explain. We had not caused any disturbance, and had no intention to do so. It was embarrassing. Additionally, the inside of the house, wasn’t the same quality, we have experienced at the many properties we have stayed at. The house had a very musty/wet smell. The water also had a very strong smell - so much, we decided to shower and wash clothes at nearby families (but the washing machine wasn’t working either). The bathroom setup was odd, and inconvenient - toilet upstairs, shower (pipe coming from hole in the ceiling)and sink downstairs. The spiral, metal staircase is extremely narrow, it’s hard to carry anything down, and are overall difficult to navigate. Unfortunately,

We wanted some place close for a long weekend. The house was tiny but tastefully decorated with a nice outdoor area. The dock was safe but could use some updating. Owners were super easy to work with let us keep our boat at the dock. We would stay again!

The lake view and outdoor space are perfect for a peaceful getaway. Cottage has been updated, very nice! The second bedroom is located down a narrow spiral staircase. Anyone sleeping in the 2nd bedroom would have to come upstairs to use the toilet.

The property location is strange, but the location on the lake is amazing. We had a great sunrise every morning. The top floor of the property is great. The layout is strange. There is only a toilet and sink up top, the shower is on the lower floor which is difficult to get to using the spiral staircase. The neighborhood was difficult to maneuver through, and a bit run down. The lake house is one of the nicest properties we saw. Our biggest drawback was the smell of the water in the house. I am assuming it was a well water. It was undrinkable and after showering we still felt unclean.

Having grown up in the Akron area enjoying our parents summer cottage as a child I was taken back in time with this property on the lake. While our cottage on the lake didn't have indoor plumbing, internet, streaming TV and the decorator touches this property has, it reminded me of years gone by growing up when life was much simpler. If you want to share similar memories with your children or just yourself, this is the place to rent. I spent hours fishing of the dock and kayak although my results were minimal it was still enjoyable. Owner was responsive and timely. My only suggestion is clean the ceiling fan blades in the living room. My wife is a clean freak !

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage was nicely decorated and very clean. We had what we needed to cook and be comfortable there. The back yard was so beautiful and we enjoyed relaxing on the deck. There was lots of wild life surrounding the lake - we even observed a Bald Eagle - the provided binoculars helped too. We were close to the Ohio to Erie bike path and enjoyed riding bikes into Akron. The host communicated well and we had a very relaxing time.
