This was our first trip to Greece. We wanted to visit an island that was not going to be crawling with tourists. When we travel, we always search for the “local experience”. Well Crete had that in spades, especially this place Stavros. I can absolutely say that this town and place under promises and over delivers in every way. Over the 17 days we rented here we had a total of 13 people come and go. Our host Sophia and her family are awesome! They live next door and also own the mini mart right next door. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. The apartment is a 10 minute walk from the beach and many restaurants and cafes. Stavros is a 25 minute drive from the old Venetian port of Chania where you can shop till you drop. Again, I cannot say enough about the place, the town, the people, and the host. If you come to Crete and are looking for THE place to stay, this is it. One more thing to mention is the Sunset. I challenge you to find a better place anywhere to watch a sunset then at the Kalathas Beach.
