Canela Beach Resort and Villa

We would highly recommend Canela beach hotel to anyone looking to stay in Ahangama. The hotel itself is lovely, with a great pool area, spacious rooms and air con. It’s located a 2 minute walk from Kabalana beach (the perfect beginner surf spot) and a short and affordable tuk tuk ride away from the main strip. What really made our trip memorable was the staff. They were extremely attentive, always checking in to see how they could improve our stay or assist us, arranging transport for us to the airport, helping us get tuk tuks and offering local recommendations. The staff even put up a Christmas tree for us after realising that’s a big part of why we were there! It really felt like you were staying with family which really added to our experience of Sri Lanka ! A big is the amazing views of the sea and the beautiful sunsets! And even seeing monkeys opposite the hotel! The rooms were extremely clean and you can choose how frequently you get them cleaned. Great value for money! My dad will definitely miss the boss man and hopes to see him soon!

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. What truly stood out, however, was the outstanding customer service. Every member of the team was incredibly friendly, warm, and ready to help with anything we needed – always with a smile. Even after we checked out, they kindly allowed us to use the premises, which made a big difference in our travel plans. That kind of thoughtful support is rare and very much appreciated. If you're looking for a place that goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for, this is it. We would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

The hot weather

Personeel was vriendelijk.

Er liepen 2 kakkerlakken door de kamer, overal liepen mieren, de stroom viel vaak uit, er waren echt hele grote schimmelplekken op de gang, geen nieuwe handdoeken/ wc papier gekregen bij 3 nachten en geen schoonmaak en de wifi deed het vaker niet dan wel. Ook zaten we tegen een treinspoor aan, ik zou het niet aanbevelen.
