Gite Gliz

El sitio era muy tranquilo, en un lugar privilegiado en cuanto a paisaje.

Para llegar el acceso puede ser complicado si ha llovido, nosotros tuvimos que llegar de noche y fue un poco odisea tanto el tramo en coche como el tramo a pie.

It’s a challenge to find, being remote in the mountains.

The experience staying at Gite Gliz with Hassan and his family was truly wonderful and felt very special. Hassan is extremely kind, welcoming and friendly. Despite using a translator app for more complex sentences, we shared laughs, and had dinner and breakfast in the kitchen with his family. The food was delicious - we arrived late but were immediately treated to a full meal. Hassan's wife teaches cooking courses and you can tell! Delicious. Breakfast the next day was the traditional style and fully fuelled us for the next day's ride. Accommodating bicycles was also not a problem and it felt very safe to leave them in the lower courtyard. The location is beautiful, surrounded by the mountains and very remote. Hassan also does hiking tours for Toubkal - we would love to come back and spend more time in the area and go out with Hassan for hiking (as we were doing a bikepacking trip). If you are near Oukaimeden, I would definitely go the extra distance to stay at Gite Gliz and get to meet Hassan and his family for an authentic and unique experience.

It wasn't super obvious we had arrived and we almost kept on heading down the track, had it not been for a couple of locals who pointed us in the right direction and then rang the doorbell for us when they spotted we were a bit unsure (admittedly it was pitch black when we descended off a dirt track by bicycle). Gite Gliz can be identified by a large embellished blue/black metal door. The track to the right gets noticeably steeper and chunkier once you pass the building (as a potential sign you've gone too far). A sign on the door or wall would help to identify the entrance easier - perhaps there was one but we just missed it in the dark! Other than this, cannot fault the experience.

The gîte is warm, clean, comfortable, and in a spectacular setting. Hassan’s family is welcoming and kind
