Gorgeous stay at the wonderful Mendo Art Center

Wonderful lived-in but clean and spacious one BR apartment with fantastic views. Huge apartment. Easy to keep warm. Comfy bed. Bathtub, great hot water for showers. On the outskirts of town but a 3 minute walk to anywhere in the town you want to be. Staying in the middle of the Art Center is a joy. There was open studios the night we came and we saw artists in residence whom we had visited with before on our last trip staying here. We've stayed at so many of the B&Bs in Mendo and we like this one the best.

Would like it if they would collect more dishes and mugs and such, maybe seconds from the artists This is a great place if you like to live like the locals. I'm a former local and it feels like home. Might now suit others.

Great potential, tremendous disappointment.

I wanted to give it a higher rating because I like the Art Center and am looking for a place to stay since I come up the coast to Mendo and Ft Bragg once a month.

The wall heater in Room 7 wasn't functional and even though there was a space heater in the closet it wasn't powerful enough to heat the space. We communicated this after our first night and a second heater was provided. It still didn't heat the room adequately. We were freezing both nights and couldn't wait to get up and out of the room. Sad, since we wanted to linger and enjoy the space early and late in the day. I would NOT stay here during the winter -- lovely windows, but way too drafty and cold.

Beautiful big studio in Mendo

Beautiful big studio, great location, quiet, great big windows, right in the middle of the art center. Short walk to Lansing ot Main Streets, the main drags in town. The pictures was totally don't do the studio justice. It gets REALLY cold up in Mendo and in the studio, which only has a stand alone heater. Plan on the room getting up to about 65 degrees when it's 50s-60s outside. Basically heater takes the chill off. It's still an amazing place to stay, the studio itself and being in the Mendo Art Center.

Could be better appointed with bigger mugs for coffee. It gets REALLY cold so bring layers and sweaters and some slippers.

The space and view were incredible. Location was ideal. Both beds very comfortable.

Watch out, the pictures are not what you get

Great location.

The pictures I saw when I booked it were not what it looked like at all. I felt deceived. I upgraded to an ocean view, couldn’t see the ocean at all.🙁

Decent option on the edge of town

Although the room appeared unused the morning we checked in, they wouldn't give us the door code until exactly 3 pm. We had no vehicle and so had to improvise to store luggage (since there is no office or anyone responsible at the facility).

Good value for the area, very cozy studio especially at night.

The location was convenient, mostly enough parking, quiet neighbors. The studio was very cozy with the warm lighting by the beds. The kitchenette was useful. The property is quite close to the ocean and all of downtown.

The floors were not cleaned well they left our socks brown. So mopping better and more thoroughly should be done. there was some mold on the window sills and in the shower but I assume that’s common in fort Bragg with all the moisture. No tv.

No water glasses Dishes were minimal as was silverware Lots of wine glasses but no water glasses except very small Couch needs an update sinks way too much

Beautiful experience, and the APT was spacious and quiet at night.

The location is beautiful, and walking distance to the downtown area and the coastline.

The shower room is quite small. I don't recommend anyone over 200 lbs.

The property was beautiful, with plants and flowers surrounding the room. The efficiency studio apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was incredibly quiet and serene. The property is so close to everything: you could walk to the beach, to the grocery store, to restaurants. Phenomenal place to stay.

The property is a little bit on the older side, but honestly, we have no complaints. It has so much character and was absolutely beautiful.

Had a fun stay in Mendocino overall, will be back.

Location and has full kitchen. Close to market and bakery. Check in and out convenient. Quiet. Bed comfortable. Extra portable bed available. Room is big enough. Staff I spoke with was friendly and hospitable.

There is a gap on both sides underneath the front door. Needs to fix weatherstripping bottom part of door. Toilet lid not too clean And seat a bit old.

No breakfast

Could have been cleaner. Difficult to plug in coffee maker. Too few plugs. Drain in kitchenette was very slow. No tissue in unit only very cheap toilet paper. Needs paint and updating. Location was great.

A bit overpriced for the condition of the property, but a great location!

Grounds of the property are interesting and peaceful. Kitchen was adequate. Location was perfect!

Front door was not fitted with gaps letting in cold air. Heater worked but took awhile to warm the room. Hot water in shower a bit lacking. Overall clean, but floors not mopped, Noise level with the neighbor lacked privacy, we could hear one another speaking, showering, etc.

Perfect location.

The location was excellent for attending the film festival. The rooms are dated but comfortable. It felt a little like being at camp or at an old family cottage, very homey.

Worth a Stay!

This place was a pleasant surprise! Great location, the kitchenette was super useful and the room was spacious enough for two people. Very quiet location, even with people doing their art nearby. Just a stroll from the Main Street and other businesses. The instructions to get in were very clear and concise, got into the room super easy. Walking out to sculptures and a garden was very enjoyable. I liked the power strip with the usb connections, that was mighty convenient.

The shower randomly started making noise after a couple minutes, wasn't sure if something was wrong but it was a little startling. The wall mounted sink was sagging quite a bit. The bed was a little firm for my taste but that's subjective. Would have been nice to have an iron & board in the room. All very very minor things.

Pro: Location, cleanliness were great, and it was a spacious studio apartment. Value for Mendocino: excellent Con: mattress sagged so much it was uncomfortable, like sleeping uphill/downhill. We were tempted to flip it over but it’s time for a replacement.

Not recommended—overpriced for what you get.

Overpriced. The location is good, but there are better options. The room was very clean, but dated and rather funky. The exterior needs love. We had space heaters, but you can’t run them and use the electric kettle as we found out to our chagrin. We tripped a circuit breaker and it took two hours to get a response from management.

The location is fabulous but the studio unfortunately had insufficient heat to make it comfortable!

The location was ideal for walking around town and going on hikes - an easy walk to restaurants and cafes.

The room was freezing cold! There was a single space heater that was too small to heat the studio - it only barely took the edge off the cold after it had been on for 24 hours. The pull out sofa bed was terrible - the mattress was thin and you could feel the bars. The bathroom was tiny and had a fan that sounded like a helicopter.

Rusty water came out of the bathroom sink the first time I turned it on. Probably caused by the galvanized fittings used under the sink, or pipes in the walls. Once I ran the water it was fine.

Location. Room was clean and comfortable. Good to be able to prepare our own breakfast. Staff were kind and helpful.

The room was very light during the night due to security lighting outdoors. New curtains are being installed this weekend, I was told. The outside of the room is 1960’s vintage. No picture of this was included in the advertisement.
