Hugo VIP Apartments

The location is great. Very central. It's in a quiet street just a block or two from the buzzling Kazimierz district with its many bars and restaurants, Jewish heritage and lots of tourist. The street itself is nice and quiet, but also handy with a dumpling (perogies) place downstairs, a local restaurant right across, a coffee/breakfast bar at the corner and several bakeries and small grocery stores nearby. It's a brief 10-15 min. walk to the hill with Wawel castle and from there a nice stroll through the old town to the main square. Also, in the other direction, Schindler's factory is walkable in under 30 min. Or the riverside, for a nice stroll or picnic in the grass, at only about 10 min. The loft-apartment is comfortable with a small kitchen, 2 queen-size beds upstairs and a fold-out couch downstairs. Very clean. We never met our hosts, but communication is quite straightforward. The day before arrival you have to confirm your arrival through whatsapp. Then upon the check-in time you receive a code for the front door. Then inside the hallway another code for a keybox. They key opens the apartment itself. Ours was on the top floor (4th, there's an elevator), which was nice as it's the only floor that gets some sunlight. You share the balcony with another apartment.

If you arrive early (like we did) there is no possibility to already drop your luggage. There are plenty of places to explore or restaurants to go to in the meantime, but you are still stuck with your luggage (though they advise on a place where you can rent lugagge storage). That's the downside of not having a physical host. I found the apartment a bit dark/lacking in sunlight, and so clean and neat it was almost sterile. But those are minor things. Still a great find and recommended for a family or small group of friends.

Place was lovely and in great location. Spotless and always warm. Fabulous communication with host and entry instructions straight forward 😀 😄

There was no toaster, microwave or oven so cooking was extremely difficult
