Laurel Cottage

Location and felt more like a home than a rental property

Parking - although the owners did provide a parking pass - out of their control but there was an event where the parking was not available.

Location was spot on, we where met by the host , who let us in to the cottage and was very friendly and welcoming, also a nice touch was the welcome package, the cottage was cosy and well located for guisborough high street and the various shops and pubs

I think the cottage could do with a little updating, but as a holiday let it was fine

Such a great place to stay! Very clean and tidy and the welcome provisions were appreciated. Original cottage charm, with modern facilities and the garden was such a bonus!

Just a few housekeeping issues - no toilet paper, no tea towels and only 4 towels for 6 of us. It would have been good if check in and parking instructions had been provided in writing prior to arrival. Booking.com advised us that check in details would be provided by the host via email, but no one responded to repeated messages from us on this platform for several days prior, so we had to chase this up via phone on the day of check in. Once we arrived, we read that local parking was available, but we had already paid.

Excellent location in the heart of the old part of Guisborough, very convenient for the north York Moors. Extremely comfy beds and beautiful spacious and well presented cottage. Gorgeous homely kitchen, and very nice bathroom. Hosts very friendly and helpful, met us on arrival to show us the boiler controls etc and brought round some extra bedding we requested. We would recommend and would use again with thanks!

Extremely minor points, but being an old property the conservatory was too cold to eat in (we didn't want to burn fossil fuels by putting the electric heater on in there so ate in the kitchen which was cosy and fine) but we probably could have warmed it up. Some of the silk flowers although very pretty were a little dusty, and we couldn't find a casserole/oven dish so changed dinner plans one night. However full marks for decent knife and oven gloves which not all properties have and are necessary for self catering, and a generous amount of fridge and freezer space.
