Westcott Mansion with Pickleball Court & Huge Gazebo

As a lover of architecture, it scratched the itch to stay in a historic mansion. Like much of Richmond, IL, this house was many decades past its prime, witnessed by the broken car parked out front and the 70's apartment complex that overlooks its backyard. The home has tons of space and some beautiful original features, but you have to balance them with the broken, mismatched thrift store furniture, the challenging lack of outlets/strangely placed switches and dusty old curtains some on broken rods. We appreciated the renovated bathrooms and good water pressure, but were cringing by the lack of mattress pads, colorful microfiber sheets and old mismatched towels. Sharpened knives and ice were also missing. For a stay that cost slightly more than a chain hotel, we were satisfied, and applaud owners who are trying to maintain a significant old home, but wouldn't be excited to return to the home in it's current condition because there just weren't enough inviting spaces despite all the square footage.

This place was very clean and well kept. It accommodated our family reunion well. The host was easy to work with and responded quickly to any questions.

We had a wonderful stay at the Westcott Mansion!! The home is so beautiful, clean, and wonderfully historically charming. The space felt welcoming and comfortable throughout, and the amenities made the stay even better!The pickleball court was a fun bonus, and the large gazebo created a perfect spot to relax outside. Check-in and check-out was so easy!Overall, it was a relaxing, memorable stay, and we would happily return!!

We had the best time. House was gorgeous and unique. Perfect place for our group as everyone had their own room and their own bed! Would absolutely stay here again.
