About this house rental
The Country House Casa da Laranja was built by the end of the 18th century as the residence and storehouse of the plantation superintendent of an orange plantation. At that time, fresh oranges were brought to England and France by sail ships.
The garden has access to the surrounding meadows where cows graze occasionally.
From the terraces on the West and East side of the house are both the volcanic mountain ranges of Lagoa das Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo to be seen. You can also see the North coast, the Bay of Ribeira Grande and even the highest mountain Pico da Vara.
In the morning you can have breakfast on the terrace with these wide views and in the evening enjoy the sunsets. All rooms have access to a terrace.
The house has two bedrooms one with a double bed and one with two single beds. A reading room with sofa and desk is also available, not as bedroom however.
The large kitchen with fireplace is equipped with all necessary features and like all the other rooms with a view of the coast line and the sea.
The house has central heating for the winter months, although de temperatures on the subtropical island in the average rarely fall below 11°C.
Due to the relatively central location of the house all the interesting points of the island are easily accessible by car.
Shops and supermarkets are in the Ponta Delgada, Capelas or Pico da Pedra.
From the house you can go for walks, always with the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean in view.
The proximity to the Batalha Golf Course offers golf enthusiasts a good starting point, without much travel time (3-4 min) to reach the greens with splendid views to the blue ocean background.
The offer for nature lovers such as: swimming, surfing, sailing, horseback riding, whale and dolphin watching, scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, fishing, swimming in waterfalls, canyoning, etc., are almost limitless. To describe all of this is beyond the scope of this brief introduction. There are good guides on the internet or books to prepare for your visit.

- the keys will be at the house hidden. I will then send you the location via Whatsapp.
- Please make sure you have the road description or the google maps pin sent yo you.
- PLEASE let me always know if you have any questions concerning your stay.

Historic rock house in rural area. Remodeled somewhat inside. Beautiful views of ocean and volcanic peaks.House could use some updates including a new front door lock (current one is pretty wonky and bothersome to make work!) and more comfortable mattresses.The bathroom lacked washcloths and Kleenex. The house does not offer clothes-washing facilities. Steep rock steps to get up to entrance.Be aware that the house has no window screens, so various kinds of insects will be inside. We had to deal with an infestation of tiny black ants on the kitchen counter. Owner did provide insect spray.Owner very helpful and kind!

We were very pleased with this property. Marco was a perfect host, the sea view was stunning, and the stone house charming and interesting. It had everything we needed. Couldn’t have asked for more.

We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay on Sao Miguel in this house. On a small lane in a quiet rural neighborhood, with a nice view of the north side of the island and the ocean, with cows and doves all around. The house feels remote, yet it is well located and central to the island, only a 10 or 15 minute drive to the airport.You can walk to the coast, and there is a small store in the town, but you will need a car to get around to stores, restaurants, and all the beautiful island sights.Be warned that getting through the entry gate is a challenge with an anything but a small car.Marco, the host, was friendly and helpful, and communication was easy (I recommend WhatsApp).Overall, a lovely spot for a relaxing vacation on Sao Miguel.
