Very interesting house (listed building) and extremely convenient for everything - an easy walk from all the main sights.
Gerardo our host was very helpful with suggestions/bookings etc. We found the communal kitchen useful for making breakfast- there’s also a lovely cafe just down the road!
Highly recommended

Nicely appointed, excellent location, quiet neighborhood
Plastic bed mattress covers were noisy and uncomfortable

The apartments are extremely clean, modern, and well cared for. And our host made sure to do everything he could to help our stay in Oaxaca be amazing. We would definitely return on our next trip to Oaxaca.
Nothing.

The location is unbeatable: right in the center of town, within easy walking distance of countless attractions, shops, and some incredible dining options. Each room has been thoughtfully renovated—spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully appointed—while still showcasing historic architectural features that give the place its unique character. Our host, Gerardo, was exceptional from the moment we arrived.
There were stairs going up to the bathroom from the bedroom in the room we stayed in which could be a problem for some. For us it wasn't a problem at all.

We experienced exceptional hospitality from before we arrived, to after we left; Gerardo is a true professional! The room and the common areas were spacious, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. We appreciated that it was a bit tucked away, yet close to everything we wanted to walk to.

Our host Geraldo was amazing. He helped with the smallest details and gave us excellent recommendations
A little hard to get in and out with only 1 key and there was 4 of us.

Casa Sofi felt like a true home in Oaxaca! The staff were unbelievably warm and generous, even helping me with pesos for a taxi when my flight was cancelled. The historic building is stunning and impeccably clean, and I loved having access to the communal kitchen and common spaces. The location was perfect, walkable everywhere with a lively market just steps away.
My only small drawback was that the mattress topper in my room wasn’t very comfortable. Other than that, my stay was genuinely wonderful and there wasn’t much I would change.

Quiet, comfortable and a great location. Our host was friendly and helpful. It is a historic house with just 4 suites. It has a small kitchen with a refrigerator if you want to fix a cup of coffee and have yogurt in the morning or share a pizza. Highly recommend.

Well designed, luminous spaces, airy. Historic building with tasteful modern interior and nice lighting. Easy walk to Zócalo / market / Santo Domingo / buses to Monte Albán, Teotitlan del Valle and other places of interest out of town (Javier Mina, 51 is the address for this bus agency and it's good) / Jalatlaco. A few steps from the Basilica of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, shops, restaurants. Pleasant. Pretty. Comfortable. Very clean. Nice personnel. It is smaller than I had expected, just a few rooms, and I liked this atmosphere.
These aren't dislikes, just considerations. You may or may not like being so near the tourist walking district in central Oaxaca, with the related gentrification. There aren't personnel on site 24/7, although they're always available by text. Coffee and water are provided, and there's a lovely kitchen to use, but there isn't breakfast. These aren't criticisms, though, they're just things to know. I liked it and would like to stay there again.

Beautiful property and wonderful host! Highly recommend Casa Sofi for anyone looking for a minimalist design, conveniently located on the edge of the historic center. (Don't miss the ice cream plaza below the adjacent church.) We loved the spacious room, king sized bed and high ceilings, as well as the little shared spaces throughout, including the shared kitchen that was perfect for morning coffee. We'd definitely stay here again.
Nothing to mention. Our room was in the back and sheltered from traffic noise.

This is a beautifully renovated old Oaxaca home with internal courtyard and all the amenities. Just note that the kitchen is shared, and there are not coffee/tea capabilities in the rooms. It was gorgeous inside, though very incognito outside. AC and hot water excellent, the host very helpful and communicative, bed comfortable. Also the towels smelled fabulous and I appreciated having 2 black makeup towels.
The wifi was a bit too weak for me to do videoconference calls which I needed to do for work, but I could hold the calls without video.

Exquisite taste, both contemporary and seeped in Oaxaca’s artistic and artesanal traditions. All the amenities. First-rate welcome and advice from host Gerardo.
I usually find something to be improved on… but here nothing comes to mind! This is a gem.

The place was really well located, with a great mix of a private space and shared spaces. It was really great to have the option of a full kitchen too. The room itself was really well fitted out, and was nice and comfortable to come back to after a long day of exploring.
Gerardo was super helpful too, providing advice on things to do, and places to eat. They also helped me out with taxis which made my life a lot easier.
It's not a lie to say that I've already decided I'm just going back there when I'm next in Oaxaca.
Nothing really comes to mind.

-Decor was beautiful
-The host was very friendly and helpful. Gerardo was very responsive to our questions
-Quiet but convenient location
-Having a kitchen was very useful
We enjoyed our stay but there's some ways to make the experience even better:
-Light switches were away from the bed
-The internet dropped in and out
-The water pressure was a bit low

Great venue in a historical house yet renovated, extremely clean and nicely decorated, very comfy beds. Only has a few beds, so had a bit of a homey feel to it. The host was very nice and offered a Mezcal upon our arrival.
Nothing to complain about!

Very well appointed little hotel. Our host was very helpful and connected us with a requested tour as well as facilitating transportation to the airport. Location was perfect to explore Oaxaca on foot.

Nice original house of Oaxaca, with only a few rooms, in a good location, quite as my room the not face the street. High ceiling room, spacious as well as the badrook. There is shared kitchen and a small living room with table games. The host was very responsive.
To go out of the hotel, you need the key. It would have been good to have more space to put our things, eg a small table to put luggage.

It was beautiful and Gerardo the host was so kind and helpful. He was preceding our every needs, booking us taxis recommending restaurants etc. He also made us taste some mezcal that we ended up buying it was so good! The room was amazing big and super clean. It had everything you needed. I would love to go back and will if I can.

Great location. Central but also quiet. Nice decor and common areas. Liked having the shared kitchen area and good coffee. Host Gerardo is very attentive.
Safety concern that you need you key to exit. If there was an emergency, it could be deadly. Also tiny complaint, there is a plastic sheet under the sheet which makes it crinkle and a not cool.
But over all enjoyed very much.

We were very happy to stay at Casa Sofi. Girardo, the host, was outstanding! He was exceptionally accommodating, responsive and proactive. He contacted us ahead of time, kept in touch as we were coming to Casa Sofi from the airport, met us at the property and explained everything. During our stay he kept checking on us and made many very helpful suggestions about activities, restaurants and various attractions. He truly went beyond the call of duty! For the Valentine's Day, which occured during our stay, Girardo arranged for flowers to be delivered to my wife. He also was very flexible with the late check out. The customer service he provided was oustanding and it made our stay at Oaxaca memorable. We have traveled extensively around the world and Girardo is the best host we've ever had!

The hotel is very well located, since everything is walking distance (sightseeing, restaurants, markets, shops). If you stay in Oaxaca City you don't need a car. But if you bring one, you can park on the street. The room is quite spacious and fresh. Since it's a small hotel, you have a lot of comfort. The host's attention is outstanding: he was very attentive and did everything in his power to ensure we had a pleasant stay. You have Netflix, Wi-Fi and even a lobby to eat, read or contemplate the street. There is a refrigerator if you want to store something. The decoration of the hotel is nice; and the hotel has a lot of natural light.
Like any hotel in a city center, the streets are noisy. The host did what was necessary to muffle the noise, but on Friday and Saturday nights there was music in nearby bars that we could hear. There was also construction noise nearby. But if you want to stay in this hotel, ask the host because he can tell you what the circumstances are like; he pays a lot of attention to detail. I can tell you, that it's worth staying in this nice small hotel!

Gerardo was super communicative and we were provided with a cot.
It is tastefully decorated!
- The property is located on one of Oaxaca’s busiest (and noisiest) roads and opposite a very noisy nightclub.
- There was building work next door which started at 8am every morning.
- Although this is described as a B&B no coffee is provided (bar a tiny little gift bag which is not enough for one cup)
- A few small bottles of water are provided but there is no big bottle of drinking water meaning we used a lot of plastic..
- There is nowhere to wash up cups and plates.

This property has lots to boast about with its central location. Although it’s a historic building the whole place has a great brand new feel. We were exhausted upon arrival and the space was perfect to recover. Super comfy large king size bed. Lovely linen, pillows and finally, generous, large fluffy towels!!! Lovely bathroom products. We felt very welcomed by our host and he was very attentive with our requests & questions. He’s also very eager to provide a better level of service than other hosts. My wife was unwell when we arrived and he allowed us to check in early! He’s Very kind!!
We had some issues with wifi in our room. It worked very well in the communal area so once we figured that out we did our work out on the comfy couches in the main room.

the location is central and perfect for the location. walking distance to everything around the downtown area. the service was great. our host gerardo went above and beyond to the point when we needed an iron for our clothes, he was quick to obtain one for our needs. also provided clean towels and plenty of information regarding town as soon as we asked for it.
not applicable. service was great. the only thing I would change or update would be the water pressure in the shower which was not the greatest and at times the water not as hot as we would of like it but other than that everything was great.
