Casa in Contrada

The location of this property is brilliant , only 7 mins walk from the station, 2 minutes from the ferry and about a minute from shops, restaurants and everything you need. Bellano is beautiful, people are lovely. Check-in was seamless. The lady we communicated with was also absolutely lovely and always responded very quickly. The apartment itself is a good size, cosy and a little quirky. One thing to be aware of is that there are four flights of quite narrow stairs to reach the property. If you have large or heavy luggage, you need to be reasonably fit and comfortable carrying your bags up several flights. The main downside for us was the air conditioning. There is an additional charge of €10 per night, which we felt was quite expensive, particularly as you don’t actually have control of the air conditioning yourself. You need to WhatsApp to have it turned on or off. Although the lady always responded very quickly and was extremely helpful, this arrangement became difficult during the night. On our final night we became very hot after midnight, but didn’t feel comfortable messaging someone in the middle of the night to ask for the air conditioning to be turned on. As a result, we had a really poor night’s sleep, and as we had to travel the following day, it significantly impacted us. For €10 extra per night, guests should really be able to control the air conditioning themselves. There are also drinks and other items available in the fridge for purchase. We actually thought this was a great idea. Everything was very reasonably priced — for example, water was only €1 — and it was convenient to have things available without having to go back downstairs and out to the shops. Overall, its a fantastic location, good size of the apartment, easy check-in and excellent communication. However, the stairs and the air-conditioning arrangement mean it probably won’t suit everyone

The additional charge of €10 per night for airconditioning feels excessive and unfortunately you really have to have it because it feels stuffy (we were there in mid September). It can feel abit one sided. Instead hosts should think more from their guests POV. In our case (and I'm sure many others) we travelled 1000's of km, saved and spent months making our accomodation choices so it doesnt leave the best feeling. Raising their prices would be a better solution.

The location was a longerr walk from the train station and the roads are not clearly marked. We asked a local for help and she said it was just easier to follow her. But it was on a quaint narrow street. We were aware before hand that there were three flights of steps to the room which proved to be more of a challenge than we thought it would as we being senior citizens needed to carry our luggage. Luggage was our only problem.

Some neighbor animal kept making a loud noise so it was noisy. Couldn't figure out the animal's cry, maybe a peacock???

Location, price

There is a glass door to the bathroom so the person sitting on the couch is the sitting room can pretty much see everything that goes on in the bathroom. Very uncomfortable feeling.
